[00:00:25] Speaker B: The go with that. We're on the hockey and this sports.
[00:00:29] Speaker A: Space of Spaces through Sault Ste.
[00:00:31] Speaker B: Marie, but it's also expanded outside of Sault Ste.
[00:00:34] Speaker A: Marie so make sure that you check out Spaces today and get into the interaction.
[00:00:38] Speaker B: Now tonight we have an action packed agenda as we always do, but you got me solo for the first handful.
[00:00:45] Speaker A: To 10 minutes talking hockey of the National Hockey League.
[00:00:48] Speaker B: A little bit more love towards the Olympics. And yes, you get another prediction of a roster this week and that is for the US Team. This week we'll have Jordan Trudeau joining yours truly in our Chuk A Puck segment, talking Major Junior and the Sault Ste.
[00:01:03] Speaker A: Marie Greyhounds.
[00:01:04] Speaker B: Then of course Justin Heik coming on by to talk in the pocket. And just a reminder, the Game Sports podcast is also featured on all social media, in particular TikTok, Instagram, Facebook at the Game Sports Podcast podcasts and love the interaction on the recent clip that we have with Team Canada's roster and.
[00:01:24] Speaker A: Very excited to get into the US.
[00:01:26] Speaker B: Roster with you now for the National Hockey League. I have one point I want to get to that. Then I want to get into the ice concerns in Milan. Then I want to predict the American Olympic team and then a little splash, a little bonus for you to give.
[00:01:41] Speaker A: A little bit of baseball news.
[00:01:43] Speaker B: Now that before. That will be before, sorry. Jordan Trudeau joins us for Chuck a Puck. Now getting right into Splash of Hockey News that I wanted to touch on. We talked about it last week, Brandon and I, on our Top Shelf segment and we discussed how the standings were quote, unquote drunk. And I love that analogy. You look at the division, especially on the east side, that there is, it's open season, okay? Next week someone could be at the bottom, another one could be at the top. There is such a small gap between the top teams in the east now to near the bottom and there's a lot of parity. You can go with drunk. Either way, the Leafs are starting to find a little bit more of a groove. They're starting to get a little bit more healthy despite, you know, goaltending. Depth has been really tested in the.
[00:02:25] Speaker A: National Hockey League this year in particular.
[00:02:27] Speaker B: If you're the Toronto Maple Leafs. If you look at Tampa Bay with down being down, Vasilevsky goaltending depth has been never more important in the National Hockey League where you can't just have a one, like I said last week, a Martin Broder doing 60, 70 games for you. You need to split those games, but you also need to have a reliable third, if not four fourth goaltender in your system and develop goaltenders as best as possible, sign goaltenders and hopefully take a risk on a few. I like looking back to Martin Jones.
[00:02:55] Speaker A: With the risk that Toronto did a.
[00:02:57] Speaker B: Few years back there and he came in and really helped when the Leafs were down. Goaltender Joseph Wall and the crew at that point. So look, the National Hockey League so open. But there's been a lot of surprise stories this year. Connor Bedard, Macklin Salbrini. I don't mean surprises like oh, surprise that those guys getting points. We know that those guys are great hockey players but having strong seasons. And I don't know if it's a coincidence because the Olympics is around the corner that those Canadian boys are having a good time. But you know what? I think there's another year, year older, year wiser.
[00:03:29] Speaker A: Let's go with that saying.
[00:03:30] Speaker B: And the National Hockey League has had a lot of exciting moments to point out and I really point out, as I mentioned to the goaltending but a lot of the young players, Bedard Celebrini, you know, when I'm looking at Matthew Boldy, I'm looking at Matthew Nies, I'm looking at these guys and saying the NHL has great generational talent. Now with McDavid, with Matthews, obviously you have Crosby still hanging out there, but the youth with Bedard Celebrini, Matthew Schaefer, these guys, everything is just going to be fantastic, I think as the NHL keeps progressing. But I will say one thing about the one thing that I'm noticing is still inconsistency in games when it comes to officiating. I don't like attacking officials. I don't talk about officials. I'm not doing that on this. I'm just saying there's games and they really can change momentum of the game. And I'm not saying we should look at anything AI related. You need to keep that human element. But I still continue to stress just consistency when it comes to calls. What is a call? We've talked about this on this podcast every year. It seems like every year. And I'm not pointing that because of being a Toronto Maple Leaf fan. I've seen other games that I'VE tuned into as well that I just feel like the refereeing is a little too inconsistent. That would be one thing that I would like the NHL to try to.
[00:04:48] Speaker A: Really buckle down on to make a little bit better.
[00:04:50] Speaker B: But you know what? If I'm the NHL, I'm looking at this year and going, oh, it's a little bit open season, but until you look over in the west and you see the Colorado Avalanche have only lost.
[00:04:57] Speaker A: Two regulation games, then you're like, oh, okay, the west is looking pretty dominant.
[00:05:01] Speaker B: Or is the west getting worse?
[00:05:02] Speaker A: That's not the case. The Colorado Avalanche are an absolute wagon.
[00:05:06] Speaker B: That's my point about the the National Hockey League update to point Given time constraints and you only have yours truly.
[00:05:11] Speaker A: And I make sure that I go through my topics a little bit more quickly for you to get to these two points.
[00:05:15] Speaker B: This next point I want to get into Milan's ice. Now I'm going to give you a little bit of a backstory about the ice when it comes to Milan. Now it is 60 meters by 26 meters. I believe I have that number correctly because that's what I had noted down. So it's about three feet shorter. Let's go with that term. It's three feet shorter than a typical NHL standard rink and it's a hair wider. I believe was a was a quote that I saw. And if you listen to last week's episode I talked about how the Olympic ice is different. It's bigger and it's going to be more friendly for Celebrini, for Bedard, and that's why these guys are going to make it. Obviously, you know I'm not changing my prediction. Okay. I still think those two guys make.
[00:05:52] Speaker A: The team no matter what size of ice it is. Okay, just clarifying that.
[00:05:56] Speaker B: But obviously there's been a little bit of misunderstanding on the Olympic ice and being a little bit different. It's actually going to be a little bit different. If you look in Italy. Okay. So there's some concerns the shorter the ring sizes range and safety concerns because less for players to skate okay. And they're not goes to the reactions of collision puck movement. Does it make the game quicker? You may say it does it doesn't it? Actually you definitely have to be on your toes a little bit more, move the puck a little bit quicker. But it is not what was to be as expected and the ring's construction was delayed as I'm as I'm looking at my notes and it's scheduled to be completed February 2nd. Just before that that is just days before the Olympics begin. Okay. And because of that, there's again, consistency issues with the ice hardness. There's just having it completed that could be a concern for the National Hockey League. Bill Daley came out to say, quote unquote, if players feel the ice is unsafe to play, we're not playing. Let me change that. He said, then we're not going to play. It's not. We're not playing. He didn't say that. With a natural sense, then we're not going to play. So if I don't know who dropped the ball there in Italy, okay. I don't know what's going on. If they're taking their afternoon siestas. Look, I could say that I'm Italian, okay? So I can tell you Italy has got a little bit of a different atmosphere over there, okay? Get this ice figured out, get everything fixed, get what's needed addressed. Because not only are the Olympics important and hockey being important, seeing the NHL players back in the Olympics is one of the highlights of when that announcement came out a couple years back. Okay? So there's no way they don't play. There's no way they don't play. But at the end of the day, who dropped the ball here, okay. And it is a safety risk. So hopefully they're able to get that done. The rank of size for international competition. But many in the NHL and outside argue the shorter length might not be safe. Okay. Because in a league built around the full size ranks. So there's a lot of background to this. You could do research on to the NHL. You can look at any kind of news outlet right now. This is a hot topic. But in Italy, the ice is a problem. It's not because it's not cold enough. It's just not built to where it.
[00:08:02] Speaker A: Needs to to be.
[00:08:03] Speaker B: So get going, Italy, get it fixed up. Let's go. I don't want to hear that the players on coin because the ice wasn't good enough. That is the worst thing I would.
[00:08:11] Speaker A: Ever heard right there.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: Now the last thing I'll get to I promise you my projection, my prediction for Team USA's roster. Now obviously Brandon or Alex ain't here to talk to Super. It's okay. Brendan Seward me last week and said, dave, you're going to pick the team by yourself and I'm going to criticize you. First time that's ever happened here on the game where you try to make a prediction and someone your co host you. Thanks, Brennan.
[00:08:34] Speaker A: Just kidding.
[00:08:34] Speaker B: Loved it. It was a Different take. But I'm going to give you who I think is going to be the roster. And you know what? This is probably more of the most mirrored roster that you're probably going to hear. And you know what? I think a lot of media outlets are going to second what I have down here. Okay. Because it's a pretty, I think, guessable roster. Let's go with that. Okay. So I'm going to list out the Team USA what I think the roster is going to be for the 2026 Olympics. You could check out last week's edition. You can check out clips on TikTok, that is streams right now on TikTok, so make sure you check that out. Get into the over 100 comments that have been on there. Start chirping me, say that we need to have a license for podcasting. Whatever you'd like to do. Love that interaction. Okay. But I do have one thing. If I could maybe go back and I won't. You guys had a very good take about. Okay. About Mackenzie Blackwood. That was a very good take to consider as one of the three goalies. But I still stand behind the players that I took and the ones that I left out. And yes, I left Nick Suzuki out. Okay, getting to the usa. Yeah. Judo is on the call. And he's even saying, what am I thinking?
[00:09:43] Speaker C: Look, okay, third line.
[00:09:45] Speaker B: Okay. I might be crazy. Look, he even had to jump in to say it.
[00:09:48] Speaker A: I love it.
[00:09:49] Speaker B: Team USA going from forwards down to defense. And then I will go to goaltenders. Not in any order. Last week I selected the lines for Canada. Not doing that for the States.
[00:09:59] Speaker A: I'm just giving you forward.
[00:10:00] Speaker B: So no order.
Going with Dylan Larkin, Auston Matthews, Clayton Keller, Brady Tkachuk, Jack Eichel, Matthew Tkachuk, Jason Robertson, Tage Thompson, Kyle Connor, Cole Caulfield, Jack Hughes, Jake Gensel, Alexa Brinkett, and of course, Matt Boldy. That stud from Minnesota is going to round out the forwards. J.T. miller does not make that team. Quinn Hughes, Adam Fox, Charlie McAvoy, Zacharynski, Jake Sanderson, Jakob Slavin, who is just a sudden Lane Hudson round off the defensive core. And Annette, I'm going with Connor Hellebuck, Jake Ottinger. And here's my hot take. Dustin Wolfe. The States will give young man Dustin Wolfe. No, not Spencer Knight, who's also another young one. Not Jeremy Swayman, Dustin Wolf, who is the who's just looking so good in Calgary. That's the guy that you're going to get backing up to these veterans per se. And Dustin Wolf, who you want to get some exposure to that Olympic experience, now is the time to do it. So that is the Team USA roster. You can comment below and let me.
[00:11:03] Speaker A: Know what you think.
[00:11:04] Speaker B: The last point I'll bring up, because I promise that's hockey in the NHL. Edwin Diaz does sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Boo. Okay, but it's okay. I'm not saying that because I'm a Blue Jays fan. I'm saying boo, because the Dodgers buy everybody and get everybody and they try to ruin baseball. But you know what? I don't care. There ain't going to ruin baseball because this team that I'm pointing at, if you're on video, is coming back with the vengeance next year. They're going to sign Bo. They're going to sign Kyle Tucker. And I'm not a delusional fan. This is the Toronto Blue Jays year.
[00:11:34] Speaker A: Next year.
[00:11:35] Speaker B: Okay, let me tell you that Kyle Schwarber does go back to the Philadelphia Phillies, but I also got to give credit to the Pittsburgh Pirates. They're trying. They're trying to buy it. They're trying to get better. How can you not throw? Feel bad for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Absolute dumpster fire over there. You feel bad for Paul Skeen. But you know what? They be trying. They're throwing money out there. They're trying to get people. They're trying to bring in talent to increase baseball in Pittsburgh. And you swung and you missed against Kyle Schwarbert. Pun intended. The guy's one of the best home run hitters in the league. But Schwarber goes back to Philly. Diaz is now Dodgers new closer. So what are the Blue Jays, what are the Yankees? What are these teams going to do to try to answer that? Although Dylan Cease did get introduced as.
[00:12:19] Speaker A: A Blue Jay just today as we're recording December.
[00:12:23] Speaker B: So one last big thumbs down for baseball. Boba shed had a meeting with the Boston Red Sox. If he stays and leaves the Jays.
[00:12:30] Speaker A: And goes to AL East, I'm gonna burn all my Boba Shet stuff. You better resign in Toronto. That's all I gotta say.
[00:12:36] Speaker B: And for you to just to take a zoom call and not go there. I'm confident that you don't care to.
[00:12:40] Speaker A: Go there if you didn't go in person.
[00:12:42] Speaker B: Okay, all right. That's all I got for hockey. That's all I got for baseball. Because we're tight for time and I've already had Trudeau wait just over a handful of minutes. I know Justin's going to jump on and we're going to have some overlap but that is okay because I had my time. I already keep Trudes on time and get hike on time as well. To give you all the content that you need, comment below about my my hockey feedback. I can't wait to criticism about the US roster and more chirps about Canada because Suzuki's not on that roster. I love, I love it. But Trudes, you know what? Let's introduce you formally and properly. The one, the only, the stud himself.
[00:13:16] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:13:17] Speaker B: The best looking guy right now on the screen that you're seeing and by far just an absolute stud. Okay, looks like. I don't mean to go into looks but the reason why I'm getting into that too. Your knowledge when it comes to hockey in the world and and the major junior and to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Look you are. You are a true Hound fan too. And I'll tell you why. Because your favorite hound of all time is Ryan Sproul, former guest on this show, recent guest that you can check out in our recent edition. But I wanted to segue that sprawl kind of put in there for you as well. So to promote the other show that we had. But Trudes, my friend, another edition of Chuck a Puck. How you been? How you doing? How's life?
[00:13:53] Speaker C: Very good. I'm good. I'm ready. We got lots to talk about here. Lots is happening in in Sault Ste. Marie here for the Greyhounds. So I'm excited to dive into it.
[00:14:03] Speaker B: Unless you know what what I was we. What I'm thinking is if you're with the ohl, there's been some trades, there's been some moves that have gone on, some teams have brought some guys in and obviously we're going to be diving into a particular trade here in the suit. But there's one thing that I promised.
[00:14:18] Speaker A: That we were going to do today and I hope you remember the Canada world Junior roster prediction. Okay, good.
[00:14:24] Speaker B: We got that on the go. But Ohl. All right. What do we. Since we last talked the last few weeks as I pull up the. As I pull up the standings, just myself here too.
[00:14:34] Speaker A: Just to get myself recapped.
[00:14:36] Speaker B: You know what? There's obviously Brantford leading the way in the Eastern Conference. If you look at the west, we've talked about this before. There's some parody in the west. The Hounds are buying, trying to get caught up a winter obviously leading the.
[00:14:46] Speaker A: Way in the Western Conference with Flint still I think overachieving but maybe people.
[00:14:51] Speaker B: Will disagree with that. But true, it's the lay of the land in the ohl. Any hot takes before we officially slide.
[00:14:57] Speaker A: Over to the Hounds?
[00:14:59] Speaker C: Yeah, the Ottawa 67s also have been hot over the course of November into December and what's really intriguing about them is they have a really young roster so you know they just beat Branford. They just knocked them off. So they got a 17 year old goaltender who is playing really well. They're playing really good hockey right now. Obviously suproduct Brock Chirone playing for that team and they're. They're 21 and 7. So they're putting together a really strong stretch here before the Christmas break. So giving Brantford some some competition there. They're only three points back although Brantford with two games in hand with but still some some more high end competition off the top of that Eastern Conference. And yeah I guess the biggest news really the biggest news in the OHL right now was that trade was the Lucas Fisher trade to the Sioux St. Mary Greyhounds. It got Twitter bumping and it's being talked about on on Facebook quite a bit. So it just, it points after the Colin Fitzgerald trade which I don't even know if we talked about barely really we did it.
[00:16:06] Speaker B: So yeah. Giving you or with both. Yeah.
[00:16:08] Speaker C: Greyhounds acquired a couple weeks ago the big forward from Peter the Peterborough native. The big, the big forward from Peter Rose, Colin Fitzgerald and for two second round picks and two third round picks and a little bit more. But he has slotted in very nicely on that third line. Does not play like a 17 year old. He's big, he's strong, he's fast and he's racked up some points ever since joining the roster. So he's, he's really slotted in nicely to the forward core. And now the Greyhounds debut Lucas Fischer tomorrow night against the Kitchen Rangers. And you know what a move that was.
Was kind of surprised because after the Fitzgerald deal it was kind of like a. Okay, they just traded for a 17 year old an 08 birth date. So are they looking to maybe you know go in contend next year? Like is that their window?
But after watching Fitzgerald play he is an addition that really helps the top nine even maybe even top six forward core right now. And now bringing in Lucas Fischer who was the best defenseman available at this point in time. You know he's 19, he's NHL drafted to St. Louis, big shot from the point Sarnia for being low in the standings. They did have a pretty good power play. So he was a big part of that. So he's Going to bring that to the Greyhounds and like, yeah, that's a big ad. That's a, that's a sign that the Greyhounds are contending this year. So I don't think they're done adding and it was a little bit of a pleasant surprise to me and maybe to other Hounds fans, but it's obvious, like, you know, they're the aggressive move early, they're, they're looking to contend this year. They're, they're looking to take the West. I think it's a good move and I think if the assets, if they go out and get a couple more pieces, they actually will be a bit of a scary team to beat in the West.
[00:18:00] Speaker B: You know, one thing I saw about.
[00:18:01] Speaker A: Lucas Fisher and you and I have talked about this on this podcast for a little bit, what is one thing I like about defense? When they're big, he's big.
[00:18:08] Speaker B: Yeah, you know what, he's a big guy.
[00:18:11] Speaker A: He can shoot. He shoots left. He's not right. If you're big and you're a right handed defenseman like you're on Dave McCaig's number one list.
[00:18:16] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[00:18:21] Speaker B: But he's got six foot three is what I have him listed down here.
[00:18:25] Speaker A: For, for my notes.
[00:18:26] Speaker B: And they're, that's big guy for, especially for a 19 year old.
[00:18:29] Speaker A: And for the, for the OHL.
[00:18:31] Speaker C: Yeah. And 18 points for a team that's in ninth place, like, that's pretty good. 18 points of 26 games. And that production, you can make the simple prediction that, that, that production is only going to increase for the greyhounds. But you know, a top four defense, really, really solid for the greyhounds right now for when Chase Reed comes back from the Royal Juniors. And yeah, that's huge.
Captain of staring. Yes, he brings leadership, he brings Pro experience. He's 19, he's the perfect fit and the right price. Well, Hunter Solomon was going the other way, which I know a lot of Hounds fans are sad to see him go. He's, he's been a great, great defensive defenseman ever since, ever since he started here. Couldn't really play physical and England is huge in the defensive zone. But I mean when you look at the price and you look at what they got this Lucas Fischer for, like, that's a no brainer, you know, you got to take that deal and it'll only help them going into the new year. Huge weekend coming up. Moving into what's coming up, they play. The Greyhounds are at home tomorrow night, Wednesday, December 10th. They're facing off against the second place in the West Kitchener Rangers. So that'll be a really, really solid test. I know they had two blowout wins the past weekend but let's remember where those teams are in the standings and let's remember that Kitchener is going to be a much, much different opponent and Owen Sound on Sunday.
So two big tests already for this new, this new and improved start to contending Greyhounds roster. So some, some opportunity to gain some points here mid December.
[00:20:13] Speaker A: You got a Ross. We were talking about this a few episodes ago that the Hounds have to make that decision if they're going to go this for it this year or not. Right. And I always highlight Brady Martin because I don't think people disagree. But I don't think Brady's back next year.
I think there's. He's going to be making Nashville next year. Especially the way Nashville's trending. Listen, I had an episode where I called it buy or sell early and I had Barry Trots on there. Nashville, if you somehow listen to this, sell all your veterans.
[00:20:42] Speaker B: It's not working.
[00:20:43] Speaker A: What you guys are doing, you got. Yeah, get the young kids up there, give them that experience. And that's led by Wood that has Brady Martin. There's so much good young talent that could be given an opportunity to play and not household names but they will.
[00:20:56] Speaker B: Be guys that are going to go.
[00:20:58] Speaker A: To balls to the wall to win you games.
[00:20:59] Speaker B: So the Hounds are looking at it.
[00:21:01] Speaker A: This year saying okay, I think we have a wide open chance to win despite what Branford's doing on the other side. This is a team that we can.
[00:21:07] Speaker B: Build around an ad.
[00:21:08] Speaker A: You got a top 10 defenseman in Reed who's going to be going top 10 and no, not going to gloat here but called it last year. Okay, you did too. True. It's not just me. This kid has always been known as a stud.
[00:21:19] Speaker B: We said that since his first days.
[00:21:21] Speaker A: Of camp when he came to the Sioux Greyhounds.
[00:21:23] Speaker B: This is a team that you should have believed in. And.
[00:21:25] Speaker A: And that's been done. It's been done. They believed and like you said, there's no way that they're done at it. No way.
[00:21:30] Speaker C: No. There's no way.
It's a good point. You bring up Brady Martin. As of right now, he's in Nashville's plans or he's in at least in the Milwaukee Admiral's plans for next year. Barring anything like drastic that changes, he's not returning next year. You can't bank on that. You'd love to have him as a 19 year old, but he's just that that's the point in his development. That's where he is right now. And props to the Greyhounds for.
[00:21:56] Speaker C: Developing a player like that to get him ready for pro already. And same with Chase Reed. Can't bet on. With the way scouts are talking, with the way people are talking about Chase Reed possibly going top three and possibly, possibly competing for the number one overall spot. You know, you can't bank on him coming back either. And with the new NCAA rule, we might see more 19 year olds start to take their education package earlier. Right. And go to that NCAA rule quicker whether or not they're planning on playing pro hockey. So the time is now. And that's, you know, that's what they're doing. That's. It's obvious that it's, it's go time. So. No, this is a great. It's, it's, it's group like. Yeah. And a name that I feel like I haven't even talked about or barely talked about is Jordan Sharon, the Penguins draft pick. You know, I'm. Penguins lands probably going crazy when Dubas picked two suit players last year. But Jordan Sharon, Travis Hayes is a legitimate.
Like that was, that was like that was a legitimate pick for Kyle Dubas. But Jordan Tron leading the Greyhounds in goals. He's at the top of the league in goals. So he's having himself a really, really solid year. Quinn McKenzie has just been lights out as an 18 year old. And those are some pieces that have really supplemented this top core of, you know, Marco Mignosa, Travis Hayes, Brady Martin, Chase Reed. Callum Crosby has been outstanding ever since he's come back from injury and he's slotted into the top four really nicely.
[00:23:30] Speaker C: This is if they can get good goaltending down the stretch. This is a scary team. It is.
[00:23:35] Speaker B: The goaltending is still a question.
[00:23:37] Speaker A: I don't mean that as a bad way. It's been. I just think that's something you consider. But I had someone messaging me today. Truth. Maybe you can add some truth to this or not. Because I haven't seen any reports about it and I like to make sure before I talk about something that's true. But maybe we can.
[00:23:50] Speaker C: I don't like rumors, but. Okay, let's go.
[00:23:53] Speaker B: We're not starting. The report came from a pretty, pretty good source. And then I had actually one of our interns heard about this too. So I've heard it from two people. But the person I heard from. Okay, first time Clue is a chance of coming back to the Susei Migray on to the second half of the season.
[00:24:12] Speaker B: But he's playing NCAA at Arizona right now, so.
[00:24:16] Speaker C: He is. And for the story of Justin Cluce, if I'm sure if you're a pretty devoted, dedicated Hounds fan, you. You'll know what happened. He is actually a 19 year old this year, so he's. He's still able to play in the OHL as an overager. He committed to Arizona State in the summer and he's been playing hockey there ever since. He only has four games played this year and zero points. Zero points. Yeah. And like, we don't know the situation. We don't know what's going on.
Yeah. Like, is that a possibility? I mean, if I'm Kyle Raftis. Yeah, I'm looking into that. I'm looking into that. Because if the Greyhounds still have his OHL rights, his junior rights, which I believe they should. There's no way they shouldn't.
That's a free upgrade. That's a free edition. And he brings the experience. He's 19 and any way you can supplement your roster without having to give up any current assets is obviously work worth working in, looking into. And I mean, if whatever is going on, if he's not getting the ice time down there and they can defer his scholar, like defer his package till next year, and that's all good. I mean, why not? A reunion would make sense. I've heard. I've heard things and I think. I don't know, like, who. Who knows? Who knows what's in the works. But looking at it from an outsider's perspective, it's definitely a move that could make sense for all parties involved.
Of course I'd love to see Kloots back. I'd love to see Clutter back. He would keep that iron man streak going that he. That he had going 100. He would. He would help this team.
[00:25:54] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:25:55] Speaker C: I'm sure there'll be a reunion after this.
[00:25:57] Speaker B: You know, maybe we'll have to put.
[00:25:58] Speaker A: Raftis on the spot then ask him. He won't answer that question. There's no chance.
[00:26:02] Speaker C: He's so. It's great. It's awesome.
[00:26:05] Speaker B: 100 now, truth. Before we wrap up and go to in the pocket, we have one more.
[00:26:09] Speaker A: Thing left to talk about. Okay. And then we love predictions on this show scene team.
[00:26:15] Speaker B: It's a little bit easier, I think.
[00:26:16] Speaker A: For the world juniors. That is the Olympics.
[00:26:18] Speaker C: Okay, well, they made it really easy now with the new. The new way they select the team. I think it kind of, yeah, a couple cuts there, but.
[00:26:29] Speaker C: I'm here.
[00:26:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Give me, give me your roster for the season. We're gonna do what you think the team Canada World Junior roster will be this year. So I'll give you the floor first and then I'll go and I'll do.
[00:26:44] Speaker A: Mine a little bit more quickly to wrap up Shakapuk.
[00:26:47] Speaker C: Okay, cool. Here is my roster. But one thing worth mentioning is every single forward invited to this camp is a first round draft pick, except for Gavin McKenna. So this team looks to be loaded up front. So you're going to start with Michael Misa. He's being loaned. That is outstanding. Porter Martone will have Gavin McKenna and then I think we'll see returning players. Jet Luchenko, Cole Bauduin, I think you're going to see Cole Reschni. There a couple of guys that were left off last year. Liam Greentree, Sam O'Reilly, Michael Hag, and then I'm gonna go with Tejaginla Tjginla, maybe that's Teege.
[00:27:30] Speaker C: I think Caleb Daneway is gonna go and Brady Martin's gonna be there as well. The only player not there, I think that is gonna, they're gonna leave off is Braden Coots, the Vancouver draft pick. And I just think that's because he's, he's 18 and he's, he's gonna have another year next year be able to come back. But like a guy like Sam O'Reilly, Liam Greentree, this is, this is it for them. Right. So I think like you're going to take those guys. Sorry, I forgot to mention Jake o', Brien, Carter Bear, those are going to be the other ones. On defense, Defense is tough because.
[00:27:59] Speaker B: Toughest.
[00:27:59] Speaker C: Well, they're going to have so Aitchison Brunicki, Cameron Reed, Zane Parek, obviously Jackson Smith is going to be there. I think you're going to take Ben Danford. And then there's three. There's three. There's three 18 year olds there, like they're younger.
And I don't know much about Carson Carells. I know he's really, really skilled, which is why he got an invite. So I'm gonna, I'm gonna go with, I'm gonna go with Carells. I think they're gonna take him and Keaton Verhoff. They're gonna need that university experience there. And then all three goalies I think will make the return. I think the starter though, I think you gotta go with Carter George again. Right. I think he played outstanding World juniors. So, you know, having returning goalies, that's huge for team Canada and they should be the heavy gold favorite. And of course the Hunters, they're. They're not, they're playing to win. Everyone, right, like, so Dale Hunter and coach Mark Hunter, like, it's the Hunters, they're going all out. They're going for gold. So it should be a good year for Canada.
[00:28:56] Speaker B: They play, they play to win. So I'm actually going to go very quick because we're pretty identical. Forwards Gavin McKenna, Michael Misa, Porter, Martone Tisha, Ginla, Jet Luchenko, Michael Ha, Cole, Rajeshni Cole, Cole Baldwin, Liam Greentree, Caleb.
[00:29:11] Speaker A: Denoyer, Brady Martin, Sam O'Reilly and Jake O'.
[00:29:14] Speaker B: Brien. I got on defense, K Sean Aitchison, Zane Parak, Sam Dickinson, Harrison Bareni, Cameron Reed, Ben Danford. I got Ben Danford making that team.
[00:29:24] Speaker A: And Keaton Verhoff as the number two.
[00:29:27] Speaker B: Rated player to go in this year's draft. But unfortunately there will be no Matthew Schaefer.
[00:29:32] Speaker A: Everybody I know, everyone's like, but the.
[00:29:34] Speaker B: Islanders let him go. Look, they're not letting them go one because the Islanders are in the US of A. And number two, Schaefer might be, might make that Olympic team. Just saying he might be a hot shot to make that Olympic team.
[00:29:45] Speaker C: I was just gonna say we're, we're gonna. Don't worry. We'll be watching him in the Olympics in February.
[00:29:50] Speaker B: The goaltenders, very easy. Carter, George, Jack, Ivan Kovic and Josh.
[00:29:56] Speaker A: Ravensburgen is my third goaltender.
[00:29:58] Speaker B: I'm a, I'm an opposite hand fan when it comes to Ravensburg and okay, those are the three goaltenders. That is the roster I am going with. Might be some added emergency players ready players. We had that last year when Schaefer went down. We can see what is going to.
[00:30:15] Speaker A: Happen after the cuts get made. After the 27 players make their start. Dwindling down to the final roster amount.
[00:30:21] Speaker B: So that is the world junior predictions. Trudeau and I are pretty mere bang on on what we had. And I think this is a gold medal team.
[00:30:29] Speaker A: I think it's better than last year's team for sure.
[00:30:32] Speaker B: A lot better.
[00:30:33] Speaker A: Last year was not a great time for Canadians there. That was not fun to watch a lot of immature acts on the ice.
[00:30:40] Speaker B: Look at me talking all mature. Okay. These young kids are just going hot shot out there. Led by Leafs forward Easton Cowan. Yes, I'm calling out Easton Cowan for.
[00:30:49] Speaker A: His performance of the world juniors last year.
[00:30:52] Speaker B: Not the same Cowan we're seeing on the Ice this year for the Maple Leafs, so. Truth, my friend. Thank you very much. It's been chuck a puck another week. We have one more week. We're gonna chat then. You know what? We take a break. Usually during Christmas holidays.
[00:31:04] Speaker A: But here's the joy.
[00:31:05] Speaker B: You're our world's juniors major junior guy. You and I are gonna be having.
[00:31:09] Speaker A: Clips throughout the holidays.
[00:31:10] Speaker B: So you know why?
[00:31:11] Speaker A: You really don't get too big of a break like everybody else does. But we're gonna be.
[00:31:16] Speaker B: We'll be back here same time next.
[00:31:17] Speaker A: Week and I'll see you around the rink this weekend.
[00:31:19] Speaker C: All right? Sounds good.
[00:31:20] Speaker B: Have a good one truths.
[00:31:21] Speaker C: Thanks. You too.
[00:31:24] Speaker B: Hike, brother.
[00:31:25] Speaker A: It is in the pocket time.
[00:31:28] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:31:29] Speaker A: And in the pocket is partnered with SportsCenter Bar and Grill. Sioux St. Mary, Ontario's best sports bar. Were five years in a row. Best wings. Look, Justin and I were there on Sunday for Justin's pre birthday.
[00:31:41] Speaker B: So happy belated birthday, my friend.
[00:31:43] Speaker A: 40 big four zero coming in hot for you.
[00:31:47] Speaker B: How you doing?
[00:31:49] Speaker D: Well, we're doing okay. 40 is not that bad. I mean, if at 44 you can get signed to be an NFL quarterback still, then I've still got like four years here. Maybe it can happen still. We'll see. Heck of a week so far though. It's only. It's early. Still.
[00:32:05] Speaker A: Still early. Did they have anything at work for you?
[00:32:07] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, cake. We always have cake. A lot of cake. Cake, heavy weekend.
[00:32:11] Speaker A: Cake, heavy weekend. And the food was delicious as well. The wings, the pizza, all that fun stuff.
[00:32:17] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm still a little tired, I'll be honest.
[00:32:19] Speaker A: Yeah. Because the waters. Because the waters.
[00:32:21] Speaker D: Yeah. Hydrated. A lot of hydration.
[00:32:24] Speaker A: Love that.
[00:32:24] Speaker B: Okay, so what'd you think of those.
[00:32:26] Speaker A: Roster predictions there, Justin?
[00:32:28] Speaker D: I mean, it's. I'm pretty well along the same lines as you guys. There's. I mean, there's a lot of depth to choose from out there, so.
[00:32:36] Speaker B: Feel like you can't.
[00:32:37] Speaker A: Yeah, you can't.
[00:32:38] Speaker D: Really. That's what I mean. It's, it's. There's. Every couple years you get one of those rosters where no matter who you pick, you're not going to be wrong. And I think this is one of those.
[00:32:46] Speaker A: Especially when it's led by Gavin McKenna. Right.
[00:32:49] Speaker B: Although we're talking football.
[00:32:50] Speaker A: I'll try to keep us on. On track. Look, you know, last Sunday was interesting with football. We got an interesting week coming up. Obviously the Chiefs are not the Chiefs. And I'm sure you're a happy guy to see that this season but we are in a very interesting spot as we get near the. What do we call it, the finish line of the season right now. And last week, you know, there was no booze to Tomlin getting off the field last week, despite wherever they were. It doesn't matter. And Tom, another week in Pittsburgh, which I think he should not be let go. The Buffalo Bills with an absolute stellar comeback.
[00:33:24] Speaker D: If there's snow in Buffalo, they're going to win. I mean.
[00:33:27] Speaker A: Yeah, they don't. They don't. What do you call it? They don't lose when that happens.
[00:33:31] Speaker D: No, I mean, they were getting the Doors beaten off of them the entire game, and they just came back. And Josh Allen didn't quit. Was. I mean, he's. The team. Doesn't really matter who else they have on offense. As long as you have Josh Allen and James Cook, they have a chance.
[00:33:45] Speaker B: 100.
[00:33:46] Speaker A: So, like, what are the.
[00:33:48] Speaker B: Besides you having your birthday party for.
[00:33:51] Speaker A: You know, at Sports center, you know, we're still young. Still young.
[00:33:54] Speaker B: Colts. Had a talk about your Colts. Justin. I want to. I want to give you the floor. You know, a little birthday gift to.
[00:34:00] Speaker A: Give you your floor. The floor to talk about that.
[00:34:03] Speaker D: I can't. I can't have nice things. At least multiple nice things. Like the Leafs start going on a winning streak. Daniel Jones, both of his legs just. He's Lieutenant Dan. Oh, sir. Like, what the. Did I do to deserve this? You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. Leafs, all your goalies are down. We're gonna go on a hot streak anyways, get you to buy back in real hard, and then your football team is gonna fall apart only to get.
[00:34:27] Speaker A: Hurt in the second round anyway.
[00:34:28] Speaker D: So terrible. You know, whatever. I mean, that's. It's just. It's funny how that works out.
It always seems like there's. There's one up, one down, but it's a bummer. It's a bummer for Daniel Jones. He was having a hell of a year, and honestly, he's got one broken leg and one leg with a torn Achilles. Like, that's. That's a rough winner. There's gonna be a lot of. A lot of Xbox time going on there.
[00:34:53] Speaker B: Yeah. A lot of Expo. Not.
[00:34:55] Speaker A: And not staying in shape. You know, like, they're. He.
[00:34:58] Speaker B: He's gonna need a little setback.
[00:34:59] Speaker A: He's gonna need some time getting into that shape that he needs to be at.
[00:35:02] Speaker D: And on the. On the other side of that, my. My birthday buddy, Flip Rivers, we have the same birthday. Decided he was gonna get back into action. There and Colt signed him today. So 44 year old Philip Rivers signing with the Colts.
The, the kicker to all of this and I mean I think everyone just looks at it at the face value, sees the news story like oh my God, what's going on?
For the last two years Philip Rivers has been talking to Shane Steichen, the Colts head coach weekly and there he's been running the same offense at his son's high school.
[00:35:36] Speaker A: Okay, hot take.
[00:35:38] Speaker D: So he knows the offense, he coaches the offense, he's well versed in the offense. If he's just there to help teach and guide Riley Leonard, I'm okay with that. If he's there to play, I don't, I don't know what we're. Maybe he's still got it. I mean Philip Rivers never really was. You weren't watching him to, you know, see what he was doing in the pocket. He's not going to run around. He's got no flash and dash.
[00:36:02] Speaker A: Nope arm on him.
[00:36:05] Speaker D: Yeah, he's got a cannon.
[00:36:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:36:07] Speaker D: I mean like that's it. Like he's not. He's pretty. It's a face value. What you see is what you get.
[00:36:13] Speaker A: There's not.
[00:36:14] Speaker D: So if he can still throw grandchild as well.
[00:36:17] Speaker A: He has a grandchild?
[00:36:18] Speaker D: Yeah, this is his oldest kid is older than our first round draft pick this year.
[00:36:24] Speaker A: Gotta love it, Gotta love football that you know what?
[00:36:28] Speaker B: Sometimes this is in his last time.
[00:36:29] Speaker A: He'S played, if I remember correctly, retired in 2020 is when Philip Rivers after.
[00:36:34] Speaker D: After the Colts lost to the Bills in the playoffs. That was our last playoff appearance.
[00:36:38] Speaker A: And look, Philippers are going to try to get you guys back in there and I mean you guys as Colts fans as you sit behind the Jacksonville Jaguars for the division lead right now after having a pretty good stranglehold to start the season.
[00:36:49] Speaker B: But you know what?
[00:36:50] Speaker A: Maybe this is the Cinderella story that we needed this year to make the media just chat because it already is already a chat conversation. All eyes are going to be on him when he has his debut.
[00:37:01] Speaker D: I don't know if it's a Cinderella story, but it is a story, that's for sure. Yeah, I thought, honestly I thought the most likely thing to happen was that the Bengals were going to cut Joe Flacco.
[00:37:12] Speaker D: And the Colts were going to sign Joe Flacco because Flacco was our backup last year and to come back.
[00:37:18] Speaker B: You know, that still might happen.
[00:37:20] Speaker D: He might still know there's still four weeks left. Anything could happen. And maybe Andrew Luck, who knows?
[00:37:25] Speaker A: Oh, Andrew Locke. Imagine he makes a surprise appearance and comes back.
Think the Colts faithful would allow him back?
[00:37:31] Speaker D: I don't have an issue with it at all. And he's not 44.
[00:37:34] Speaker C: No.
[00:37:34] Speaker A: No.
[00:37:35] Speaker B: And I, I think what's going to.
[00:37:36] Speaker A: Be a big thing this week is, you know, I've seen the Eagles are human the last few weeks. I've seen, you know, the Patriots and the Bills is definitely the game of the week this week. Sorry, spoiler. Early spoiler for me for, for that. I know there's a few, few doozies this week but yeah, I was going.
[00:37:53] Speaker D: To say the 4 o' clock slate is the real diamond. Diamond mine there.
[00:37:57] Speaker A: Yeah, it is right there. I know which one you're looking at in particular. Lions, Rams ones looking real juicy. Right.
[00:38:03] Speaker B: So I.
[00:38:04] Speaker A: And then of course you got yourself like yourself. Yeah. Your team that you cheer for is what I mean to say. The Colts against the Seahawks. I'm looking forward to that too. So there are some good games that afternoon. Slate's looking great to have some chicken wings and pizza during that time for sure.
[00:38:17] Speaker B: But to start off your afternoon, a little bit of Bills action.
[00:38:20] Speaker A: You don't need to watch the Chargers and Chiefs anymore. There's nothing to watch with Kansas City it seems like this year.
[00:38:24] Speaker B: So you know what, just watch your.
[00:38:25] Speaker A: Bills Patriots get your, you know, have that on, enjoy that game, you know, socialize, chat. Then you get into the afternoon, it's just fire. Then it's just fire.
[00:38:34] Speaker B: But then you know, to top off the night I get to watch this my Steelers play against the Dolphins and.
[00:38:39] Speaker A: Hopefully get a dub and relax in the night. Hopefully it's a nice relaxing night and coasted dub. But those are the type of games that are fearful for fans, you know.
[00:38:47] Speaker B: So that is going to be the.
[00:38:48] Speaker A: Beauty so good day of football on Sunday coming up is going to be exciting before you know we have of course you have games that go on throughout into Christmas. At the Christmas game this year I believe are the Cowboys commanders. I I'm trying to remember and I think the Lions Vikings have a. Have a Christmas game this year and do the Broncos Chiefs at the other game.
[00:39:09] Speaker D: I think there is, I think there is a late game as well.
[00:39:12] Speaker A: I think there's three games. I think those are the games right now. What I'm kind of what I'm looking at is our pick them standings that we're going to get to shortly and it didn't really have much movement in there last week. Going into this week you got news of the like that Bill's Bengals. That Bill's comeback was just wild. Philip Rivers is back.
[00:39:29] Speaker B: The Chiefs. Yikes, Yikes.
[00:39:30] Speaker A: Not looking the best there. The Ravens people had those that the Ravens as Super bowl favorites this year. I don't know what happened.
[00:39:37] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:39:38] Speaker A: Like I thought they were going to be walking through this division this year, but obviously that isn't the case. And the Bengals devastating loss for them last week, especially if they lose the Ravens this week. You can say goodbye to their playoff chances in my honest opinion. Especially the Steelers defeat the Dolphins.
[00:39:54] Speaker B: And at the end of the day.
[00:39:55] Speaker A: There'S a lot of implications this week that can help lead the last last few weeks of the season. We're in week 15, so we're going to be in 16, 17, 18. So three weeks left after this week. So this is going to start laying up the land when it comes to the postseason. So the Lions too. There's a team that were against super bowl favorites this year.
[00:40:13] Speaker B: My.
[00:40:13] Speaker A: My pick. They need to get their act together and get some wins these next couple weeks to try to, you know, get themselves back in the playoffs because anything can happen when you get to those playoffs. But because I think Justin and this might be a hot take and you're probably gonna be like Dave, buy them now because they're good. The Patriots beat 11 and 2. I'm still not sold that they're going to have a deep playoff run. I think it's one of those teams that's gonna have an early exit that overachieved but maybe I'm crazy.
[00:40:37] Speaker D: All depends on matchup. All depends on matchup.
[00:40:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:40:40] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:40:41] Speaker B: So this week we got some implications.
[00:40:43] Speaker A: We got some good storylines, we got.
[00:40:45] Speaker B: A good layout in the weekend.
[00:40:46] Speaker A: From one good afternoon to a great juicy mid afternoon. Then a nice relaxing night. Got a decent layout this week. It's going to be interesting. So I think it's a good time. Justin, if you agree to transition to the pick them this week for us.
[00:40:59] Speaker D: Yeah, I'd say it's a safe bet here we can get into the Beckham let's standings. There we go. I'd wait for him to load up. So only a one point difference here between Dave and I for the pool lead hikes pick. Still in first though.
132 wins. The David decision in second with 131 and then EJ coming in third and Tyler in fourth. So not much shifting there on the bottom but Dave and I neck and neck at one. One game difference there. So getting into this week's picks, hopefully I've got a Few games here, they're going to help build that lead back up. Taking Tampa over Atlanta on the Thursday nighter, which I think actually might be a sneaky good game. Atlanta has been in most games, haven't won them, but they've been in most games and their defense is frustrating for opposing offenses. So see what Baker can do there. Taking Chicago over Cleveland, Cincinnati over Baltimore, Chargers over the Chiefs, Buffalo over New England, Giants over Washington, Philly over Vegas. Philly over Vegas was a tough one, believe it or not. Jacksonville over the Jets, Houston over Arizona, Green Bay over Denver, Rams over the Lions, Carolina over the Saints, San Fran over Tennessee.
This one pains me, but I think Seattle is going to blow the doors off the Colts.
Ellis over Minnesota and Miami over Pittsburgh. Just out of spring bite tiebreakers. I got Miami 24, Pittsburgh 21 and Dallas 34. Minnesota 17. Most points this week. I'm taking the Jags and fewest points this week, the Jets.
[00:42:37] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Our tiebreakers are freakishly close. Which is, which is great. The tiebreakers.
[00:42:43] Speaker D: Quick copy in my notes.
[00:42:47] Speaker B: Buccaneers, Falcons.
[00:42:49] Speaker A: We got the Buccaneers to start. Bears over the Browns, Bengals over the Ravens. A very good game. Chiefs over the Chargers, Bills over the Patriots, Giants over the Commanders, Eagles over the Raiders. Cheggs are going to destroy the Jets. The Texans over the Cardinals, the Broncos over the Packers. It was tough for me to choose that game. I still.
[00:43:10] Speaker B: I almost wanted to make a change.
[00:43:11] Speaker A: While talking, but I'm not going to do it. I'll go with my first pick. Lions over the Rams, Panthers over the Saints, Niners over the Titans and an absolute destroy fest as well.
[00:43:21] Speaker B: The Colts over the Seahawks.
[00:43:23] Speaker A: I'm taking the Colts.
[00:43:24] Speaker B: I'm believing in the little bit of the joy this week and spreading some.
[00:43:28] Speaker A: Christmas cheer to the Colts fans. Surprise win for them this week. Cowboys over the Vikings. And of course Steelers over the Dolphins 20. And for the tiebreakers, Steelers 27, Dolphins.
[00:43:40] Speaker B: 21, Cowboys 34, Vikings 14.
[00:43:45] Speaker A: Not 17.
[00:43:45] Speaker B: Hike.
[00:43:46] Speaker A: And I have a three point difference there.
[00:43:47] Speaker B: Most points this week.
[00:43:49] Speaker A: Jacksonville in the 40s, jets the least in under three.
[00:43:54] Speaker B: Okay, it's going to be a 48 to three game. Don't quote me, but I'll say 48.
[00:44:02] Speaker D: I'm thinking like high 30s, but I don't know about 48. Let's. We'll see. I mean just I One thing I want to throw in there though. This week the jets wore those Gotham jerseys and like sick, absolutely sick jerseys. What a team to have, you know, something cool like that.
[00:44:19] Speaker B: So what does that team have to do?
[00:44:20] Speaker A: Justin like, that was my question actually going to be, what do the jets have to do? For real, if you're like, there's nothing on the jets now, what are you doing? What would you do?
[00:44:28] Speaker D: There's nothing you can do.
Your fan base will never be happy. You could win a Super bowl and you'd win it.
[00:44:34] Speaker C: Wrong.
[00:44:35] Speaker D: That's. I mean, that's just jets fans. That's. There's no.
No matter what you do there, it won't be right. Giants fans somehow let the Giants off the hook with a lot. But I think recent Super Bowls really soften the blow for management's incompetence the last few years. Whereas the Jets.
[00:44:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:44:53] Speaker D: What do they have? When's the last time Mark Sanchez.
Mark Sanchez got him to the playoffs? Before that it was Chad Pennington.
Before that it was Vinnie Testaverde. Like, what.
What do jets fans have to be happy about? Everyone. There is no wonder everything's just a show.
[00:45:12] Speaker B: So what team? If.
[00:45:13] Speaker A: If you. Would you be more disappointed as a fan if you were a Jets fan or a Browns fan?
[00:45:18] Speaker B: Or better yet, if you have to.
[00:45:19] Speaker A: Choose to take a team, I don't care if you're a fan.
[00:45:21] Speaker B: If you have to take a team, which.
[00:45:22] Speaker A: Which team is in the crap list more, worse luck. I still say the Browns, to be honest with you.
[00:45:28] Speaker D: No. Because I can't think of a player on the jets whose jersey I'd want to buy.
[00:45:31] Speaker A: Fair.
[00:45:32] Speaker D: Like, at least I'd like a Miles Garrett jersey. I wouldn't mind a Shadur jersey.
You know what I mean? Like, there's at least there's some. Cleveland is kind of fun. Cleveland is fun bad. Like they're in games. They People over. Like they ruin other team seasons. Like that lost when they might beat the packers this year. That's fun. What did the jets do? They're just out there. Like, the jets are kind of like the Arizona Coyotes where they show up, they get shellacked, and you move along.
[00:46:00] Speaker A: So are they leaving New York?
[00:46:02] Speaker B: No.
[00:46:02] Speaker A: Just kidding.
[00:46:03] Speaker D: Obviously they're gonna be there, but it's just like it's just gonna be the same old over and over again. With the Jets. I think I. Honestly, until there's an ownership change or a change in the hierarchy within the ownership group on who's making decisions, I just. I don't see anything. I think there's too much meddling going on there.
[00:46:23] Speaker A: I think they need to hit reset again. I think there just needs to. They have to. I think a good owner has to take over. I think there has to be a legendary type GM that does come in to get a name and then bring in a young hungry coach that you don't fire, that you pay, then you draft properly. So three elements there and the hardest one of those elements in my opinion is drafting. Drafting is the hardest one out of all those because you're New York, you can attract people to buy, you can attract people to go there if your plan is right. But to draft the right person is the problem that you need to do.
[00:46:57] Speaker D: Like two or three years ago they had three first round picks. They traded them all. This year at the trade deadline, Quinn and Williams went to the Cowboys, Sauce went to the Colts. And there's one more.
I don't even know who he is. Maybe he's not on the team anymore.
[00:47:12] Speaker B: I can't.
[00:47:12] Speaker D: How do you that like that's just as bad. And I, I've tied hockey a lot into this one.
[00:47:18] Speaker C: A lot.
[00:47:18] Speaker D: But like that's almost. If you have three first round picks in like a professional sports draft, you should at least hit on one of them. Remember when the brute. Remember when the Bruins drafted Zach Sanderson? Yeah, like they, yeah they just, that was just a botch job that first round for the Bruins. Like it's kind of the same thing. It's almost like you get too cocky. You got like we have so many picks, we don't have to hit them all out of the park.
[00:47:41] Speaker A: They skipped on Matt Barzell.
[00:47:44] Speaker D: In fact it's all right. The leaks will just trade them someone.
[00:47:47] Speaker B: Good football sticking on that. That's our week 15.
Yes.
[00:47:52] Speaker A: Week 15 selection almost drew a blank. I knew it was week 15.
Week 15 with obviously three more weeks to go after this week before we start talking playoffs here on in the pockets. Of course Justin, we are in a spot right now, like I said the beginning where it's going to be a unique week. Things this will start laying out the playoffs a little bit more clear maybe on some front segments.
[00:48:16] Speaker D: A lot of division games this week. So I think it'll standings will cement themselves a little further and the. The NFC is going to be a tough one. Tough. I mean the Bears were in first last week. Now they're barely in a wild card spot so.
[00:48:29] Speaker B: And I love that.
[00:48:29] Speaker D: I think that's, that's, that's going to be crazy. The best teams are going to come out of the NFC this year. AFC is looking a little weak. The usual suspects aren't really there. I mean the Bills, yes. But the rest are all the Chiefs up and coming. So we'll we'll see. It's going to be interesting next couple weeks seeing how everything kind of shakes out and where the dust settles.
[00:48:50] Speaker A: And we'll see if Santa Claus brings any miracles down for for Christmas for these guys. But Justin, I want to say thank you my friend.
