[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
[00:00:06] Speaker B: It'S time for the Game Sports Podcast. It is your host, David McCaig Jr. And I am joined right off the hop by Alex Parr. Now, look, all right, I'm just going to give you a quick reminder. The Game Sports podcast, Powered by 91 Network, also featured on Spaces, which is through Village Media and Sue today.
Make sure you check us out. That is the Game Sports podcast on Tick Tock, Instagram and Facebook. Facebook of course, but TikTok and all the platforms at the Game Sports Podcast. Give us a like, give us a follow a subscribe, a comment and we'll comment back to you. We'll go back and forth. We love it. Okay? But for the first time on the podcast edition of the show because I know this is has occurred when we were live on radio. I have never opened the show with wwe, opened the show with a WWE specific open without anything else involved. I want everyone to know this, okay? Now of course Par is a part of our top shelf segment, but he's also well versed in the background of wwe, as is yours truly. Because I got back into it because I'm loving the storylines that has been for the past year in the wwe. And Alex Parr was at Elimination Chamber this past weekend, which was in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. And yes, it was an event that I know Pars in a chirpy belt that I was supposed to go to and didn't plan accordingly or properly to make sure that I could go. And I even tried to surprise him to go myself, but then I was one of those ones where I didn't want to go alone or stand alone. Listen, I'm going to give you a piece of advice out there. Don't do something you'll regret. Just go ahead and do it. Even if you stand alone at an event, just do it. Take it from me, but we're not here to talk about Dave McCaig's mishaps, okay? That's another conversation. In another segment, perhaps. Alex, you were at Elimination Chamber and we're going to talk WWE because a lot has happened in the past 72 plus hours. Sorry, quick math. Top my head. More than that, actually. 96 plus hours. John Cena turns heel Yesterday on Raw, we had a storyline change with a women's championship just out of the blue change that I didn't think was going to happen. But you were live at Elimination Chamber. And yeah, everybody, it's not real wrestling, okay? Zamy Zayn didn't get put through a side of a ring, okay? Because it's real. And he's able to walk the next day. It is cinema, it is entertainment. It's much like you watch a TV show, but this entertainment is a top tier. And the story lines are great. So you can chirp about wrestling, be fake. But this is impressive. Athletes and actors doing a terrific job. And the storylines have really picked up in the past 365 days in the WWE. Really bringing back the attitude era generation. Par, you were there for elimination. I don't know where to start. Like, I think we should end on the Raw piece because all the. There's my first swear. Three minutes in is from the elimination chamber. Okay. From the elimination chamber, where all the over 100 million stream views on somebody turning heel, which Alex will explain to you in 20 years for the first time. That is the most live reaction feedback almost in history of social media. And if you don't think I'm right, look it up because that was on many verified media sites. Par. Take it away. Elimination chamber. How was your experience? But where to go? You just go. I don't even know where to start.
[00:03:28] Speaker C: The. I've been to quite a few shows. I've been to a house show which is like a non televised event where they just kind of have fun. And like the one that I was at, it's kind of like a warm up for Mania. So Triple H was on it just so we could get some reps if we run the ropes, do that kind of thing. Been to Ross. I went to elimination chamber two years ago in Montreal. I've been to a couple of summer slams and this show smashed all of them out of the park. You could have combined all the best matches from all those shows and this one was way better. Going into it, I was like, there's only four. Four matches on this card. Like, that's a small card. Normally they go five matches. Like, this segment's got to be a pretty big deal. And then I realized it was closing the show and I went, oh my. Oh my God. Some. Something big's gotta happen here.
[00:04:12] Speaker B: Some big. And you and I were going back and forth about predictions and we had. We were close.
[00:04:17] Speaker C: Like, I. I called it in real time. My section gave me props for calling it in real time. Because as soon as John Cena didn't leave the ring, I was like, oh, oh. Like, why are you still here? Your. Your part of this is done. Yeah, in the face. I don't even have to say which one. The one that's been circulating the Internet. The face that John Cena made the whole arena, you could hear them and the kick to the nuts, like I. The energy in that building. They all knew that. They just saw something historic in the sense of, like this company, like this is one of the people have been waiting 26 years, John Cena's whole career to have a full on heel turn, which is turning into a bad guy. The guy that's of Make a Wish Foundation's number one leading person is now a bad guy. The atmosphere leaving that arena was like people had been wanting this forever, had been clamoring for this, begging for this, and now that they had felt like, I felt gross, like, this isn't. This isn't how this is supposed to be. John Cena is the good guy. John Cena, the Superman of wwe and we got what we all wanted, but like, nobody was happy about it. And that is how you know that that is such an effective character change. Heel turn done right, that you give them exactly what they want and they still don't want it because you just want to hate the guy. Oh, oh, Dave, you.
[00:05:53] Speaker B: You can't see me. And as CM Punk said, now we can see right through you. Love that opening with Raw yesterday. What the CM Punk and Rollins couldn't stop. Even my wife was like, what the heck is going on here? Everyone's just loving the storyline.
[00:06:10] Speaker C: I was thinking myself, CM Punk, I'm starting that Monday night Raw going off on everybody. And he did.
[00:06:16] Speaker B: That's exactly what he did.
[00:06:18] Speaker C: He was just like, that guy's got so much beef with so many different people and there's so many theories being thrown out everywhere and nope, my favorite thing to do is I don't really like theorizing too much. I like to be. I just like to take in what they're giving me because I feel like that's the best way to consume it. Yeah, I, I just. Oh, man, I'm mentally exhausted after that in the absolute best way.
[00:06:44] Speaker B: So Cena, like when we were watching, going back to that, I know time is limited to trying to be mindful because there's so much that we can react with. But with Cena, Par and I were going back and forth on messenger and we even said on there Punk or Cena's turning heel. So we thought that my first prediction was Punk because of him losing elimination chamber and maybe selling his soul because of that hint that he told Cody Rhodes that I would have sold my soul if I was younger and try to get to the top. And now that CM Punk couldn't get to the top, maybe that would have been a twist. I didn't expect seeing it because they haven't done it in 20 years. It's like, nah, he's in his final tour. They're going to keep him the same. Keep him the good guy. Magnificent writing, cinema. And as soon as he stayed in the ring, I sat on the couch, I looked at my wife, and I was like, there's no way they're going to do it to Cena, will they? And my wife said, it seems like it for him staying there. What's going on? But then as he reacted, I'm like, okay, okay. But him staying there was weird. So my suspicion changed from punk to Cena, you know? But then as soon as I saw the hug and you see the face, because on live tv, they zoomed right in on the face. Yeah, you can, like, no, no.
And then even my wife was like, they're. Oh, wow, he's going to do it. And I said, he. What's he going to do? The attitude adjustment. What's happening here? But that smile back, shake his hand, like, oh, no. And then kick in the old gonads. And everyone in the building, I can hear it from not being there.
And the whole world in the rocks like this with his thing, whatever that is that he's doing, I can't do it. It's cool. He does it doesn't do this. He does the whatever that is, like, different look.
[00:08:19] Speaker C: And people are looking into that because, like, he came back and he threw up a three. And then, yeah, after this, he threw up a two. And people are wondering, like, maybe there's another person in the group. But again, I don't like theorizing too much.
[00:08:30] Speaker B: Oh, that. That's big part. You were there. You were able to react and able to see that real time in elimination chamber. That is fantastic.
[00:08:43] Speaker C: Yeah. The thing that made me pop the most was Cody Rhodes. Hey, Rock Dave. Can. Can I get permission to say that? Say the. No, no potty word.
[00:08:52] Speaker B: Yeah, you can. Go ahead.
[00:08:53] Speaker C: Oh, yourself. I lost my mind. I popped so hard. I was like, no way, no way. They just dropped the hard F. And. And they didn't censor it on Netflix.
[00:09:06] Speaker B: Beautiful. No, nothing. Nothing was censored. Everything was. It was delicious. And then you saw your favorite wrestler, Sami Zayn. Sami Zayn. You saw Sami Zayn wrestling Kevin Owens. The best match of the night. Holy shit.
[00:09:21] Speaker C: I heard.
[00:09:22] Speaker B: Holy shit, I heard. This is awesome. That whole night. And the chair, the hockey stick reference. Right?
So sick. You're able to see that when they.
[00:09:33] Speaker C: Came out of the ring, they were battling outside. And like, we're going through the tables and stuff on the outside. That was right in front of our section. So we got a nice up close view of that. Awesome. Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, those guys could fight forever. And I would pay every goddamn day to watch it over and over again. They what a master class. Even at the very end where Kevin Owens tried to powerbomb Sami Zayn and kind of dropped them. Like, Sammy, like, started, like, pretending like he was fighting back so it didn't look like just because they're pros, they're just.
[00:10:03] Speaker B: And then Randy Orton. Oh, love it.
[00:10:06] Speaker C: RKO and everybody in the goddamn building. Oh, my God.
[00:10:10] Speaker B: Yeah, Just everyone getting rko. Owens's emotion in the ring. Terrific actor. How he looks sad but mad. He's just so upset about Sammy. He's upset about losing Randy. He lost the title recently. He has all that going on for him. And at the end of the day, it's a matter of. It's a matter of, you know, just that acting has just been pure cinema. It's been amazing writing. That was the best match of the night, in my opinion. I love both elimination chamber matches. Very entertaining overall. Right. And not predictable. Liv Morgan didn't win and from. I didn't think Cena was gonna win. I didn't think they were gonna go in that direction. I thought it was Punk's time. And that Punk storyline of selling out was kind of interested to me. But it didn't happen that way. They wrote it and theorized everything different, which sags me into my last point. Rhea Ripley lost her woman's championship yesterday. Okay. And now I. I still think Ria's. She's a headline event, okay? She's gonna find a way on that main event at WrestleMania. But you can't predict these occurrences from happening, right? Because they've changed the script a lot. And Punk coming out yesterday at the start, we know we didn't see Cena or the Rock. Unless I missed something yesterday on Rocks. I don't think they were. Okay, good. They weren't there because I did have to miss some of the time watching the Leaf Slews last night. But the. The matchups, everything's just kind of not been predictable and it's been great cinema.
[00:11:35] Speaker C: The best. The best. You know what was the best? Being in the building. That crowd was the best. My section was awesome. Everybody's like, saying jokes and starting chants and everybody's getting along with each other. Like, everybody around me were theorizing, like, oh, what's gonna happen? What's gonna happen? Like, yeah, it's the best. Genuinely one of the best, if not the best live. I'll use it loosely. Sporting event that you can go to. You're not snoozing at a Leafs game where you can't even get a half assed. Go Leafs, go. Chant, you're getting a you, Logan chant. You're getting. Oh, holy. This is awesome. Like, yeah, the crowd involvement in the way that it influences the match, it really makes you feel like you're like the. In the NFL's way, you're the 12th man or the 13th man or whatever. Like, that's what it feels like when you're in that crowd. Because it is so important.
[00:12:31] Speaker B: It is. And Travis Scott, get out of there. I'm sorry. I don't need that. I don't need that. I don't need to Trav. I don't need Travis Scott.
[00:12:39] Speaker C: I don't like Travis Scott. Like, he's got, like a couple songs that I. That I can get along with and everything. But, like, nobody was saying that about Dennis Rodman. Nobody's saying that about, like, so many different things that have happened in history. WWE is synonymous with celebrity involvement. Mr. T at the first WrestleMania. Muhammad Ali at the first WrestleMania.
[00:12:58] Speaker B: The good point, in the good point.
[00:13:00] Speaker C: 2000S of celebrity guests where they had Drew Carey in the Royal Rumble.
[00:13:05] Speaker B: Like, it's a way so true.
[00:13:08] Speaker C: It's a way for them to branch out and get different eyes on the product. And Travis Scott, he's cool. He's up there in charts playing villain card a lot.
[00:13:19] Speaker B: He's got that stare, that little weird sidekick. I'm not saying he's weird, but he's acting like that weird sidekick that's just kind of like following the rock, right? Just kind of being that guy who's there. But, you know, what is he gonna do? What's gonna happen?
[00:13:34] Speaker C: Regardless of how you feel about Drake? Drake was at the show and the only reason he's gonna be there is because of Travis Scott. And then, like, Drake was like tweeting about it and putting it on his Instagram, talking about, like, he's sold now. He, like, it sounded like he was skeptical of the product going into it, went there, had an absolute blast. And if you want to keep seeing the product grow and get better, just like I say about the NHL, you need more eyes. And if that's the way to do it, then you got to keep doing it. And guess what? Travis Scott slapped the out of Cody Rhodes. Ruptured his eardrum and made him bleed. So, I mean, you know, like, adds to the story. I'm in. I'm in.
[00:14:12] Speaker B: I'm invested. I'm all set. And I really think this is the storyline that is fire. Kudos. WWE got the attitude people back. The attitude era are back in invested. John Cena, the that face around the world, that change broke the Internet because it's. Even though don't care it's fake. It's absolute cinema. It is great entertainment being done by the wwe. Paul Levesque, Triple H, good work on what you're doing, but maybe we'll have to go to Wrestlemania Paris.
[00:14:41] Speaker C: Oh, that's a lot more expensive than what I had to do. I just had to get on a train from Ottawa to Toronto. No big deal. And. And get to my seat on Saturday night. It was the best.
[00:14:51] Speaker B: Love it. Love it. Okay, so now what we're going to do, we're going to stop with the WWE chat and we're actually gonna. We're gonna take a little second here. Then when we come back, Brandon's roaring to go. He's ready to go. We're gonna dive right into top shelf. Don't go anywhere. Welcome back to the game Sports Podcast. Dave McKay continuing to host you this evening. This is the second segment. We are going top shell, shelf, top chad, whatever way you want to look at it. This is called top shelf, though, just everyone knows. I am joined by Brendan McCarthy and Alex Parr. We've already talked to Alex. Okay. We talked WWE to open the show. That is absolutely amazing. Giving the people what they want. Sorry if you know, you know. And yeah, sorry, blame off the right off the hop lane. But now let's go. Let's check in with Brandon McCarthy. Brandon, my friend, it's been a couple weeks. We've had some schedule changes around, but top shelf for back to our consistent schedule. How's it going, my friend?
[00:15:41] Speaker D: Good, boys. Happy to be in the month of March. Finally, birthday month. Turning the big three o. So spring. Springtime is near. So that's. That's exciting. And I was chirping par off air that he looks like Hugh Hefner.
[00:15:55] Speaker C: I don't know.
[00:15:56] Speaker D: I guess some people can see us.
[00:15:57] Speaker B: Live, but he's got a look going on here.
Hold on.
[00:16:02] Speaker C: Can you see?
[00:16:03] Speaker B: It says Rick Flair flare on it. I can see your tushy. I can see your butt. That is.
That is a look.
Oh, the.
[00:16:11] Speaker D: Well, for people listening, it's like a red robe and Ric Flair on the back. It's a Lot.
[00:16:17] Speaker B: It's a lot. It's very sexy, though. I'm gonna say. Not saying. I'm not saying these sex.
It's sexy. I'm saying I'm not sure if it's sexy.
[00:16:24] Speaker D: It's something.
[00:16:26] Speaker B: Love it. Well, listen, fellas, hockey, okay, we're going to be talking local and Ohl and Greyhound stuff in the third and final segment with Trudeau. When we talk chuk a puck. So we're going to be focusing on the NHL and it's a big week in the National Hockey League, okay? There's trade deadline is on Friday, the day of recording. It's March 4th. As I accidentally hit the mic. My apologies. The trades have already been trickered in. We already had Miller get traded before Lindgren went from the Rangers to the Avalanche. Right? You had the Oilers make a move today for Trent Frederick and Max Jones go to go to the Edmonton Oilers. With the New Jersey Devils being involved in retention. The Bruins getting some. Doing some retention and pick second and fourth round pick going the other way there. Shane La Chance was the prospect going to New Jersey from Edmonton because of the retention. If you kept up with that, good for you. But there's been, there's already been movements and there's been a lot of rumors in the National Hockey League. So we're going to get to that in a few moments. But I want to go to first reaction after the Four Nations. Look, you guys weren't part of the show on our recent edition before we took last week off, where I went off in absolute excitement about Canada winning the Four nations and obviously time given, we won't dive into that. But it's obviously was a win for hockey, but also the country of Canada. I really stressed on that. It was massive for us. But then the NHL came back and I realized that, okay, now I got to stress out about watching my team now. And I didn't have to stress out about Canada. I had to cheer against Matthews and cheer for Marchant. Like what a different era. What planet was I on for a couple days? Right? But now we're seeing, you know, it's been some trades, things have happened and we're starting to see that separation right between the top two, three teams and divisions and teams that are hot. I just want to go around the horn about your thoughts post Four nations and kind of what's really stood out to you these last week and a half since we returned for Four nations and as we near the trade deadline. Bren, I'll go to you first.
[00:18:21] Speaker D: Well, four big Things for me boys stand out. Jordan Binnington, a big fu to the doubters. What an absolute stud, especially in the overtime against the States in the final. McDavid gets his golden moment similar to Crosby's 15 years ago, albeit at the Olympics. Still an unbelievable memory for him.
[00:18:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:41] Speaker D: Sidney Crosby further cements his legacy as. As one of the great players to don the Canadian jersey. He's on the Mount Rushmore for sure. As. As head coach John Cooper alluded to.
[00:18:51] Speaker B: And for the.
[00:18:53] Speaker D: For those Leaf fans out there, Matthews and Marner, they both, I would say, showed up, you know, more mitts Marner in the final, but they showed up in critical clutch moments, which I'm sure if you're elite fans, you're like, okay, so they do have the. The firepower to. To get it done somewhere, right.
And you know, I think for Matthews, like, he was unbelievable in the final. He just couldn't. He had like three unbelievable chances. But Marner, I mean, I know somebody out there, somebody with a terrible email, email address is in their mom's basement still finding a way to pick up how. Mitch Marner is a bad player. You cannot knock him. That was an unbelievable tournament for. For Marner.
[00:19:41] Speaker B: So.
[00:19:42] Speaker D: And it's one of those instances where, you know, in sports media, we're inundated with social media stuff's gonna die after a bit this tournament. I'm still fired up, man. Like I'll be fired up right until 2026 Olympics. So go Canada. Just to exhale for the country.
[00:19:58] Speaker B: No, huge exhale. Like a needed win. That was a needed win in this country. Par. You know, we've. That. That's a great reaction, Brennan.
[00:20:08] Speaker A: Par.
[00:20:09] Speaker B: We. We're been a busy couple weeks when it comes to hockey excitement. Four nations. We're now hitting the trade deadline where, you know, everyone's going to think they're the best armchair GM in the league in the world. Rumors are flare everywhere, are flaring everywhere. Ric Flair pun the yikes. But there's also the everyone's going to Toronto rumor that happens every single year. Just like free agencies, everyone's going there. Wayne Gradsky's coming out of retirement, ladies and gentlemen. But the Par. How about you? What do you got? What do you got cooking going into everything post Four nations or in general for the world of hockey.
[00:20:45] Speaker C: I kind of also want to give Marner his props. I am quick to say he is not built for the big moments. And holy hell, it was like he's looked fantastic. It's so easy for a reporter to be like, oh, do you think this is going to help your confidence going forward? Guy's been nails since the Four Nations. The guy's been dancing nails. Oh, my God. He had a two goal game against Boston.
[00:21:09] Speaker B: You can do it.
[00:21:10] Speaker C: You can do it. And I thought it was just such a trope just to be like, oh, are you gonna get confidence from this? It's a hockey player, a pro hockey player. What does he need? Okay, well, I guess he needed this because now he knows he can do it in Boston in big games too. So I think that I need to come out and say, Mitch Marner, I apologize for jumping on you. It's very easy to do at times. And I also said that I wasn't pumped for the Four nations face off. And I still don't think I would be if the political climate wasn't so escalated right now. But that added such a layer of just like, I want this now. Like, that added such a layer of like, this country needs this.
[00:21:49] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:21:50] Speaker C: And three fights in nine seconds. Are you kidding me? I thought they weren't allowed to fight internationally, but I guess it's an NHL event, right? So you can. So it caught me right off guard. Literally before the game, I was like, oh, yeah, they're not allowed to fight.
No, I was wrong. Four Nations.
[00:22:05] Speaker B: It was great.
[00:22:07] Speaker C: Don't do it again. Do more teams than that next time.
And the Olympics. I'm not as confident as I once was, but it's nice to be on top for now.
[00:22:17] Speaker B: Oh, it's nice feeling. It's a win for Canada that was required, especially when everyone had doubts about Canada. And from a political standpoint, not for sale. There, I said it. I said it once from a political perspective. Never again will I say a political thing on this podcast. You get it once. I'll say from what I'm thinking from opposed Four nations is that I can't get down from the high. I think it's great. It's one of those moments that just exhaling all around and seeing what Bennington did say in a good old, yeah, I am good enough. And if you look back to the Clips who predicted Canada to win out of us three. Just saying, just saying. I will.
[00:22:54] Speaker D: I was thinking about that.
We were actually chirping you. I called the States because of goaltending and the hellebuck was like a beer leaguer out there.
Like he really was, man. But the forward group showed up. The forward group showed up for Canada.
[00:23:12] Speaker B: That want that needed to win it in the States. Oh my goodness. Big time.
[00:23:17] Speaker D: And, boys, if I. If I could. If I could tie it in back to the NHL, because the Leafs are coming off a shootout loss to the Sharks. Please, for the love of God, eliminate the shootout and give us the three on three for 10 minutes. Like, oh, how many years have we been talking about it?
[00:23:36] Speaker B: Every year on this podcast. There's a clip every year that I have have on this podcast. Sorry, Park.
[00:23:42] Speaker C: This is. It's. This is. This stretch right now is the only time. I wouldn't advocate for that. They don't need to play anymore. They're playing so much goddamn hockey right now. If they have five minutes to breathe and sit on the bench, I'm happy with that. But, yes, overall, I would much rather three on three for five more minutes because there's no chance in hell the game's going to a shootout.
[00:24:01] Speaker B: But here.
Here's what I want. Here's what I want.
Here's what I want. I want to make this actually a segment that we go into a little bit more just for thoughts, so I can make this a clip. So next week, we're diving into that more for the fourth consecutive year on this podcast, but I can actually do a clip about it and post it in real time. But if you look back, there's a very funny picture of Alex and I while we're on tv.
Shoot, I said that wrong. But if you know, you know by saying on tv. But there's a picture of me, like, doing something funny with Alex, and Alex doing a funny face about overtime. Three on three being extended, but we'll table that for next week. I could not agree more. My goodness. NHL trade deadline is this Friday, this date of recording. And there has been trade. Seth Jones has went to the Panthers. Spencer Knight, the other way. Great debut he had in Chicago. I think it's a great opportunity for him as well. Obviously, the Oilers made a move already, but we got the trade deadline just around the corner. And is it going to be a deadline where we see teams that maybe aren't as active but before be active? Like, Kevin Choff has been a guy who doesn't act much at trade deadlines or in general. He's been very keen on keeping the team the way it is. And the jets are an absolute juggernaut of a team, and I think you need to build on that. The Toronto Maple Leafs, tough division battle with the Florida Panthers right now in Tampa Bay are creeping up, right? Creeping up. It looks like whoever finishes second is going to be playing one another. Those are the three teams that are going to be battling for one and the other two left out are going to be playing each other in the first round is what it appears right now unless of anything drastic that occurs from a losses perspective. So lots of things could happen. The Washington Capitals looking like they're running away with their division. It seems like they and Ovechkin seems like he's going to be hitting his past record of Gretzky as predicted this year. As we've openly said on this show, it looks like that's happening. So a lot going on but we're going to stick to the deadline. Obviously looking at the board and I know Brent has a lot of inside access the TSN trade board a little bit from an inside perspective, maybe a touch. I would like to go around to both. To both of you. Then we'll go to myself before we wrap up the segment about the overall trade bait and what we're expecting going into this week. What's crossing your mind about the trade deadline? Brennan, I'm going to go to you first. What players, what moves, what's standing out to you? What are you thinking?
[00:26:23] Speaker D: Oh boy. Well, Trent Frederick to the Oilers is massive. I thought initially the Leafs would take a swing at him. Seth Jones, the Panthers is basically like your move trade living. Because if you're the Leafs and all I hear is just like no, you got to be careful. You don't want to offload like a first round pick. You don't want to, you know, deal your your up and coming prize prospect. If you are a team that is in a dog fight right now like the Leafs with Tampa Florida, doesn't matter. Like you have to go out and not just settle for like the Scott Lawtons. Go out and get a Braden Shen and say we're here to ball too because you know Tavares Marner, this could be it, right? This, this could be it for, for the current structure of the Maple Leafs.
[00:27:12] Speaker B: Go out and get a big dog.
[00:27:14] Speaker D: Don't settle for some depth guy. I actually was talking about this yesterday. I commend Dubas for going out and getting a rhyme O'Reilly back in 2023. Granted he didn't stay. He didn't want to stay. Couldn't face the pressure. But he said I got to do it. I know he's clutch. Ryan O'Reilly played with Braden Shen. I think Trey Living is a guy who would want to get Braden Shen. He's got familiarity with Ruby winning the cup in 2019 and at that point too, maybe they go get his brother and Bring him back into the fold. A team that drafted it. So enough of this. Like Florida. Florida is doing all the right things. They quietly put Matthew Chuck on Altair, say, just hush us. Stay over there, we'll bring it back to the playoffs. And they go out and get a big dog on the backhand who wanted out of Chicago, and they got him. It's your move, Trey.
[00:28:04] Speaker B: Living.
[00:28:04] Speaker D: Because you're competing against Florida and probably the conference line.
[00:28:08] Speaker B: Yep. I agree. I think that's where you're heading the conference final. Or if you're in that same division and it crosses over, you might even see them in the second round, which is more wild to look at. Look at.
[00:28:18] Speaker D: Right.
[00:28:19] Speaker B: Which. Whatever way, whatever way it goes, either.
[00:28:22] Speaker D: You'Re meeting them at some point, you got to beat the best.
[00:28:24] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. You're getting.
[00:28:25] Speaker D: You know, you got to beat the best. Yeah.
[00:28:27] Speaker B: 100 par. How about you? What are you thinking for the trade deadline? Where is your. Where's. Where do you catch your eye? What teams, what players, what moves?
[00:28:35] Speaker C: I think if we're sticking to the Leafs, that's definitely where our wheelhouse of knowledge resides.
I would trade.
I would trade Cowan a million times over before I would trade Frazier Minton.
[00:28:49] Speaker B: 100%. No, no.
[00:28:52] Speaker D: Too many small guys on the leaf size this far.
[00:28:54] Speaker B: I agree.
[00:28:54] Speaker C: And I think Fraser Mitten has shown when he's been up with the big boys, like, he's a. He looks fine. He doesn't look out of place.
[00:29:01] Speaker B: Top nine guy. Top nine guy. Yep.
[00:29:03] Speaker D: Sure.
[00:29:04] Speaker C: And that's a known quantity. We now know what Fraser Mitten is. Well, maybe right now, maybe we don't know what he is a few years down the line. Ethan Cowan, same kind of deal. But we don't know anything. All I know is he throws a little temper tantrum during the World Juniors when things aren't going his way. And I don't really know if he's got the. The gusto to really keep it going. With London. The point streaks over. He is pretty small, like Brendan said. I mean, he, he might just be another dime a dozen. Skilled small forward think like Rob Shrimp.
[00:29:35] Speaker D: You know what I mean? Yeah.
[00:29:37] Speaker B: Oh, friend of the show. Friend of the show.
[00:29:39] Speaker C: Right. But Hobby Shrimp didn't have a long career, so I think if anybody is holding on to our prospects, like, oh, we can't get rid of them, I throw them all out the door. I'd pack their bags for them. If it meant we could get a bonafide third line center. I packed, I'd book their ticket. I'D make sure that they got a place to start when they get there. Like sho shoe like this. This is it. What are you scared of? You're scared of not being middle of the pack two, three years from now? Get over yourselves. They gotta go.
[00:30:10] Speaker D: They gotta go right now. They gotta go right now.
[00:30:13] Speaker B: Yeah, it's right now. And I'll say, you know, keeping it general. One thing that I've been a fan of, and I've said this on the podcast before, Dylan Cousins. That's a name that I'm watching. A trade deadline. A lot. Young talent, a lot of promise. My eyes were before with Calgary and they still are. I can't change that prediction once it's made, but my eyes now are a lot on Detroit. I feel like Detroit's that team that's been hot with the coaching change. I feel like they can use that. Another top six forward with potential. He's 13th on the TSN's trade bait list. My mind is on Dylan Cousins going 13 when he was. He's 13th on the board, but I think he's gonna be one of the guys that are moved. And that may be an off season move more so. But I feel like Detroit is in there and they think that their time is now given what happened last year. So I think the Wings are a very good, good player away or two from making that appearance in the playoffs to get that valuable experience. A lot of the young guys like Raymond Cider and Edvinson. Right. That's a big thing if we're talking.
[00:31:09] Speaker C: About players that are on the move. Brock Besser. I was one year off from being right and saying the Vancouver Canucks are a bunch of frauds because I did not believe them when they made that playoff run. I did not. I didn't think they were good before that season. I didn't think that they fooled some people, you know, maybe even fooled me for a little bit. But now with Brock Besser and them having these contract discussions and they're a few years off and, you know, maybe the dollar amount's not right there. Ship them. Get rid of them all. Send them all away.
[00:31:35] Speaker B: Assets management, blow it up.
[00:31:38] Speaker C: I think Brockbuster is guaranteed to be traded at this trade.
[00:31:42] Speaker B: I think so. And I'll say from a Toronto, because we've all said Toronto and you want to go in the wheelhouse of what we cheer for and knowledge. I'm gonna say I know Braden Shen's my is one that I would love in Toronto and I hope happens, but I don't think it does I don't think term and money really will work out and I would also like Scott Laden but I think Scott Lawton's going to Winnipeg. That's my prediction. I think that's going to be shoveled the off smoothie. This has Winnipeg written all over him. If I am Trey living I'm looking at Brock Nelson and Jamie Oleksiak and I'm going to say why Jamie Olexiac is a big body can play on the second third pairing offer a little bit of depth as Tan F gets better and just that piece just further improve that blue line to match the toughness in that Atlantic division to fight the Kachuk to be that big enforcement move because you can't have Ryan Reeves on the ice for 15 plus minute a night because you're not going to succeed if that happens. Brock Nelson, he's a guy that had a hot start. He's been hot and cold. I think his value has gone down. I think there's an opportunity where you might not have to give up a top prospect but you might have to look at giving up a Steve's. Maybe you have to include more of a mid level prospect and some banking. Yeah like you might have to give up some players and I'm not saying but I think Nelson and Alexiak should be the targets for Toronto that adds that third line center and depth in the lineup and also allows some depth on defense. And Kyle Yarn Crook has returned for Toronto which is a big boost to that team that could play on the fourth or third line as well which is an upgrade to Connor Dewar and to also it's and I think upgrade to Pontus Hoberg. I'm not a big Ponus Homberg believer. I think he might be one of the guys that might get shipped out to be honest for a very valuable player. So there's a lot of options in Toronto because of depth but those are the two players that I think you got to watch in Toronto. Isn't brock Nelson like 55 perfect for Toronto 33. I've heard a lot about Brandon Tanov and I think Toronto should stay away from Brandon Tan. Have they have bottom already? No, they don't. You need that centerpiece. Domi has not been successful. I think he'd be more successful on the wing playing with one of the big boys and putting Brock Nelson on third line would be a good step. And I don't think Scott Lawton's a guy I'd rather Nelson over Scott Lawton. I know it's a Canadian guy it's an American, but I'm going to say brock Nelson, Brennan, 1.
[00:33:52] Speaker D: One more sneaky pick. I've been saying this for the last month. Yanni Gord on the Kraken. This guy is a fireball. He's one of chip with the bolts. I think he's been a little bit injury riddled this year, but man, this guy is a hockey player. He's. I remember seeing him at the Lightning parade and he is absolutely nuked for a guy who's like my height and you know, kind of like a smaller player. But he would be a guy like you mentioned Domi. Maybe it alleviates kind of the pressure for him to play the center role and get Yanni Gordon there. And you know, just for, you know, a deep Eastern Conference that has so much depth, especially in the third and fourth lines. Like, remember that HBK line for the Pens? You need to kind of develop that.
[00:34:42] Speaker B: Sort of trusted line.
[00:34:44] Speaker D: Yeah, the trusted line. Right. And maybe Gord could kind of help. Like I just. The home birds and the camps, like, they just, they don't really. They don't really move the needle if you're taking on a Panthers team in a critical game. You know what I mean? Like, David can't like get him out of there. Like just clean house and bring. Bring some of these guys who won it before into the equation.
[00:35:06] Speaker B: Great guess. Okay, before we go, one team that you think these guys will go to. All right, random names. I'm putting you right on the spot. I'm not lying to you. Okay. It's going to be a flat out name. The first one I'm going to. Brennan, I'm gonna give you a name. You're gonna say it and I'm gonna go with Mikko Rantanen.
Where is he after Friday?
[00:35:27] Speaker D: Winnipeg.
[00:35:29] Speaker B: Oh, okay. Yes, yes. I'd love to ask why. We'll ask that off air par.
I got it. I got to give you a name. My goodness.
Look out.
[00:35:43] Speaker C: Nico Ranting into the Lightning.
[00:35:45] Speaker B: Oh, I like that. But I'm going to give you another name. I'm going to give you another name. I'm going to give you. I'm going to go with Brock Besser.
[00:35:57] Speaker C: Nashville. Because they're delusional.
[00:36:03] Speaker B: I like it. All right, now I'll let you. One of you guys give me a name that you want to say. Want me to say Parkinson.
[00:36:11] Speaker C: Nelson. Brock Nelson.
[00:36:13] Speaker B: Toronto.
[00:36:14] Speaker C: Come on, D. You love that, eh?
[00:36:17] Speaker D: I thought Dylan Cousin.
[00:36:19] Speaker A: Dylan Cousins.
[00:36:19] Speaker D: You won on, On. On the Maples, don't you?
[00:36:22] Speaker B: No, I think Calgary Or Detroit.
[00:36:24] Speaker D: Oh, Calgary.
[00:36:25] Speaker B: Calgary. I think Cousins will go to Calgary. That's what I think. For predictions, let us know what you think below. A lot of interesting names on the trade bay board, for sure. Alex Tuck. Very interesting name to have on there. If you're Buffalo, a lot of value. That would be. My goodness. You look at Bowen Byram as an rfa. You look at the name keeps going down. You got Yanni Gord, which you already mentioned, but you also got Carson Susi. Very attracted to that as well. If you're looking for a defenseman, wrist the line and take that guy off the list. He's not going anywhere unless you're retaining 50% and willing to eat up something. Okay. That 5.1 for wrist aligning maybe 10 years ago would have been something I would have sacrificed in that. But this is going to be Wild on Friday. Wild.
[00:37:05] Speaker D: Brennan, final thought, Crosby to the Avalanche.
[00:37:09] Speaker B: Not this year.
Yes. But in the summer.
[00:37:13] Speaker D: Absolutely.
[00:37:14] Speaker C: Break.
[00:37:15] Speaker D: Everyone's foams. That would be insane.
[00:37:17] Speaker B: I am going to go bold now and say no. I know everyone would love them. In with the Nova Scotia, the ties with. With. With McKinnon. No, Montreal in the offseason. I'm going to say Montreal because he grew up a Montreal fan. He'll facilitate the trade. They're young guys coming up. They can use that leadership. I'm gonna say Montreal for Crosby in the summer. Let's leave it at that. No.
[00:37:39] Speaker C: All right, we'll leave it at that. You said leave it at that. We're gonna leave it at that, fellas.
[00:37:43] Speaker B: I like it. We're gonna. When we. We're gonna try to see if we can do some interactions over the weekend with. With trade deadline stuff for you. Interact on. But we'll be back next week where we'll come back with more of our quizzes and questions, but we'll react to the trade deadline, giving our grades out to teams and just updates. Brandon, I want to say thank you for taking the time, my friend.
[00:38:01] Speaker D: Thank you, buddy. Appreciate you.
[00:38:03] Speaker B: Awesome. Appreciate you. Alex. Wrestling and hockey. Oh, my.
Love it, love it, love it, love it.
[00:38:11] Speaker D: Tr do you wear that. Do you wear that Q. Hefner robe on dates, too?
[00:38:15] Speaker C: Honestly? First dates only, though. First dates only, and then it's all down.
[00:38:19] Speaker D: Gotta set the mood.
[00:38:20] Speaker B: Set the mood.
[00:38:21] Speaker C: And then I get the. I get the captain's hat and I got a big stogie, too.
[00:38:25] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:38:26] Speaker B: Wow, that's great. That's great. That just makes me. That makes me smile. I'm not thinking of hard doing that. All right. This has been top shelf. You've been listening to the Game Sports podcast. We've got one more segment for you tonight. Very hockey heavy with a little bit of wrestling in there. Wrestling in a hockey segment, all in one. Like wild, wild stuff. We're gonna be right back with Jordan Trudeau as we get to our Chukapuck segment. Talking anything local, the soup rounds, but also the Ontario Hockey League. Don't go anywhere.
Welcome back to Game Sports Podcast. Dave McKay continuing to host you this evening. We're in the third segment of tonight's show and what a wild show. Different kind of agenda layout, which is great. We had only. This is only our second show in the last near. Near four weeks because of schedule conflicts and everything that's going on. And we started the show with wrestling. Then we jumped into top shelf. Like it's. It's great. This is awesome. It gets us for loose. Gets his footloose is what I just said. That's how awesome this episode's been. I'm speechless. But we're in the last segment and we're getting to the Chucka Puck and I'm not chucking the puck on the floor right now, but you can see it right there. Okay, there's the official game puck to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. But here on Chuck Puck where we definitely devote our attention towards the local team of where the podcast, the Game Sports podcast is located in Sault Ste. Marie for the Sioux grounds. We also talk overall Ontario Hockey League chat. But of course, today we're going to be invading fully with the Sioux St. Marie Greyhounds. And I am joined by. By the one, the only. And I say that for everybody because that's what we all are here on the show. Jordan Trudeau. Trudes, you're back. Last time we saw you, you made a surprise appearance on Strike Zone and it was an absolute fire segment of pure venting. I think I might have been a little bit louder and you contained yourself and I only had one swear on there instead of 20, but overall, good. It's good to see you, my friend. How are you?
[00:40:13] Speaker A: Good. Good to be back. I. I forgot about that segment, actually. I forgot on there for a little bit. So yeah, it's awesome. Always great to update everybody for Chuck Puck.
[00:40:26] Speaker B: So yeah, Chuck A. Puck here where we've definitely went into everything with Chuck A. Puck this year mid season with the Ontario Hockey League and the Sioux Greyhounds and plan to be more involved. This Chuka Puck even comes to more of the end of the season. But as Next season comes you're going to see a lot more of the the Chukapuck and involvement overall. And that is the plan to continue to grow not only Chuck a Puck but the AIM Sports podcast. So if you're in Sault Ste Marie, don't hesitate to be a part of the interaction or want to to join as a guest. And I know I've had a few inquiries and I know the schedule always doesn't work when it comes to that, but if you want to join and interact, if you can't come on as a guest host, a fan host like we like to call it here on the show, there's interaction opportunities such as through our social medias and of course through spaces for that's through SU Today and Village Media where you can find the game sports podcast. Now truths we're gonna stick it to the Sue Greyhounds this week just because of time overall. And I want to go first, starting off with a bang, Brady Martin. Let's start there. I want, I want to go there. I want to go to Brady Martin first because the kid's a stud. We have a couple Brady's on the team. There's Brady's, there's, there's been, it's definitely an entertaining year when it comes to jokes with that. But speaking of the Brady Martin whose draft stock was maybe at the beginning of the year a late first rounder, maybe a second rounder to some might have been like in the around that range. Then he just draft stock goes like this and it keeps going up and keeps going up. And if you're on video, you get to see my hand go up in the air straight for absolutely no reason but just to prove a point that he is jumping in to be top 10 consideration the National Hockey League draft this year. And if people think that's crazy, comment below. But I don't think I sound crazy.
[00:42:07] Speaker A: No. Brady Martin. So definitely, you know, he's the real deal and he's been proving it. In his sophomore season he's climbed up in point totals and you know, he's second on the team now to Marco Mignosa.
I did a little like predictor the other day, a little point per game station. So he's predicted to finish like he's projected to finish with like 75 points as of today. And yeah, so starting the season he was kind of like a late first round pick for the NHL draft. Now just looking, it looks like Bob McKenzie has him at 13 and Sam Cosentino Sportsnet has him at 12.
So he's climbed quite like he's climbing the rankings and he's showing he like greyhounds fans see it every night. So he's got 30 goals or he's 29 goals, so one away from 30, 61 points.
He was just named the OHL Kojiko player of the week. He had 10 points in the last three games including a five point night against the North Bay Battalion which helped The Hounds win 6:3.
So he's been a huge part of the greyhound success in the last five or six games and you can tell his like his confidence is just through the roof coming out and the more confident he is, the better he's playing and the better the players around him are playing. That line of mignosa, him and Travis Hayes, they're, they're dangerous every time they step on the ice. So. And that whole trio returns next year. So what a great, great thing to have.
[00:43:55] Speaker B: And you know you were mentioning off air before I kind of go back to draft draft, you mentioned that if he does continue to climb, you mention a pretty good point about how that could be both a good thing and a bad thing for the greyhounds, but more so may change their plans going into next year. So I kind of want you to touch on that to see like I'm curious to know, putting you on the spot. I'm curious to know what plan does that expediate the rebuild a little bit or does that mean that if they're not at a place to compete, does that mean that they have to look at moving Brady Martin at even at a young age because of with the place that they might be in?
[00:44:31] Speaker A: Well that's the risk here. That's the debate. Right? That's. You touched on it. Exactly. So he's climbed so much, he's garnered so much attention.
You know he very well could like there could very well be a team that will take him in the top 10. That's not out of the question now. So with that being said, when he's 19, is he going to make it NHL? Is it more likely not now he's going to make an NHL roster.
So he's your central player that you're kind of building this 17 year old 07 group around and if he's not projected to be here in 20, 25, 26, how do you justify can like going all in for a contending year that year? Do you have to adjust? Do you have to maybe go for it a year early next year where you absolutely know know you'll have him. Hopefully you'll absolutely know you'll have him for that year. So yeah, that's, that's making Kyle Raftis's.
[00:45:35] Speaker B: Job a lot harder.
[00:45:36] Speaker A: But also it's amazing to like he's everybody I talk to. I, I've never met him personally, but everybody I talk to that's met him said he's, he's an awesome kid. He comes from a great family and he is like, he's active in the community, loves the Sioux and he's just so, he's, he's a fantastic human being and he's, he's getting like well deserved acknowledgment and he's working hard and it's paying off. So that's congratulations.
Making sue fans a little worried. Sad.
But congrats to him. Kudos to him. And he's. He's gonna impress all throughout March too.
[00:46:20] Speaker B: Yes. And one thing that I'll make interesting to always put out there, you know, given how the draft lottery goes, the Pittsburgh Penguins are. It's an interesting take and I like, I like always mentioning this because the Pittsburgh Penguins right now they have the trade deadlines around the corner. Okay. And obviously there's going to be trades in the National Hockey League if Ricard Recal gets traded if I don't think they're trading Crosby this year. So let's put that, put that away. If it might happen. It might happen. But not saying it won't. But not happening this year. But there's some bodies that could get moved that, that could move from Pittsburgh that might garn garner more first round picks. But to say right now Pittsburgh's first round pick. So I'm going to read a note that I have to make sure I resay it because I say it correctly. Pittsburgh Penguins received the New York Rangers 2025 first round pick via Vancouver. That's top 13 protected in 2025. Okay. It's unprotected in 2026. Fun fact. Danton Heinen, Vincent D'Arnee and Melvin Frunstrom for me for man for Marcus Pedersen and Drew O'Connor. And that's where the Canucks received the 2025 from the Rangers. Top 13 protected and protected in 2026. So that trade factors what's going to happen where Pittsburgh gets a pick. But I think they're going to get another first round pick. Why am I talking about Pittsburgh very easily if they get a pick that is in that realm of 14 and 15, there's a very high likelihood that Brady Martin might fall. And that is why to that maybe it's not fall but might get to that point, might still be available. But I think by the end of the year, Brady Martin's stock is going to be in a top 10 prediction. But there's a very deep draft this year that features Schaefer, Misa Haggins. I'm a big fan of James Hagens. I think he's very good. I think he's going to be a top cornerstone of a team. Porter Martone, very interesting pick. Martone. McQueen, you got Eklund overseas, you got Frondell overseas. The list goes on. So that kind of really spaces out the top five near the top 10. So you Braden, Brady Martin's gonna have to. I think I'll play like Radam Maturka or Jake O'Brien. Okay. Maybe go above them to start hitting the top 10. But if he does fall where he is, there's a high likelihood that Pittsburgh's gonna have a chance to take him. And I think Kyle Dubas having the sources that he does, as un expert as this sounds inexpert, whatever word I'm looking for, making up words as I'm going here that Brady Martin might end up a Pittsburgh Penguin. Okay. And I, I there's also ties with maybe Ottawa. Is that it could be an option. It'd be cool if he ended up in Canada and played in Ottawa and stayed within Ontario. That'd be very cool. But I'm going to say as a prediction right now that Pittsburgh Penguins, they keep if they get that pick, that Brady Martin will be a Pittsburgh Penguin. And it makes sense because of the youth movement that they have. And he would make that team in Pittsburgh very quickly given their turnover, which could cause troublesome as Trudeau was just alluding to about how they want to make their plans in next year, in the year after that. And that also could affect the Memorial cup bid.
[00:49:27] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:49:28] Speaker B: Which we've talked. Which we've talked about. So interesting takes. Am I off? Am I offset by saying that? I'm just saying it depends what team drafts them too. Like, I think Ottawa is in an interesting point too, where they have a lot of young guys coming up or maybe he doesn't get on that team in two years. But someone like Pittsburgh, someone like San Jose, he's not going to go one, I don't think. But unless something wild happens. But anyways, San Jose, Chicago, Nashville, who shouldn't be as bad as they are there, there's some teams that he would be able to crack that lineup within the next year or two. And that Pittsburgh's in that realm, someone like Vancouver, Ottawa. I think he would have that other year buffer. I think they would because of some young guys and stuff coming up. But Pittsburgh makes it very interesting for me to think of the possibilities of Dubas bringing back a sough guy under his wing to try to groom in Pittsburgh. And I think he'd be a great fit there.
[00:50:18] Speaker A: And I mean he's taken a Suga before. Rasma Sandean. Right. So he has that. I think it could be, it could be better if he falls to Pittsburgh. It like it like Dubas would obviously here for more. Right, right.
[00:50:34] Speaker B: So yeah, good point, good point.
[00:50:38] Speaker A: Best case, he goes to a team with another first round pick from this year so that that team will kind of focus on the higher first round. Like for example San Jose, if they have two first round picks, that would be, that would be the best case. But I mean like that's just saying, like that's just us being selfish as, as Greyhound fans.
[00:50:57] Speaker B: I'll tell you right now, if there's a GM, if Brady Martin falls under 15, you gotta take him. Even, even if you gotta take.
[00:51:04] Speaker A: Yeah, any, any team that gets him will be super happy. Like they will be super happy with him.
[00:51:13] Speaker B: He'll be an NHL player for you.
[00:51:14] Speaker A: At all areas of the ice. So yeah. So back to the Greyhounds as a whole. They've had a really, really good stretch the past few games. They've been in some tight, tight games and they're in a tight playoff race.
So they're three one and one in their past five games and you know, like they've been getting lots of scoring. They've been getting like, even in Brampton like they had, they were in that game until the end. They had the chance to, to win it and they tied. Like they tied. They had a chance to get a point but unfortunately, you know, they, they lost it. So they lost it in the third. They had a bad penalty call and then power play, power play goal. Down by one again with the last minute. So like they're, they're battling, they're, they're fighting hard to stay in playoff contention upcoming.
Yeah, this is why it would have been nice to get a point against Brampton because they have the two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference coming to town this weekend. Barry and Oshawa. So Oshawa is going to be the return of Andrew Gibson. That's going to be a fun night. Give more welcome and, and, but like for the Greyhounds to, to get a couple points out of this weekend, they're gonna have to put together some really good performances.
Hopefully Nolan Lalonde is back. Sounded like from Peter Ricci's article that he's close, so hopefully he's back for at least one of the games. Not to say Miller hasn't held his own. You know, I like he's, he's definitely improved his play. I think so.
I mean, there's eight games left, four on home ice.
They, it could very well be the last four of the season, depending on where they, where they stand. So come out support and, you know, good luck to them. They're playing hard, though. They're, they're, they're fighting hard.
[00:53:14] Speaker B: I think what I, what we're seeing, I've always said this last couple times we've had the segment is that the playoff experience would be so critical to the development of a lot of these young guys, including Brady Martin. But loving what I'm seeing from Chase Reed, I think it's great. I love I little kudos to the the OHL Hound Power Tick Tock page and their Facebook, their interaction with the players and how they bring that in the community is great to see, to see the different sides of these young guys. These, these young kids. These are young guys, okay? They're, they're, they're young, okay? These are guys are born in 07, okay. They're not even hitting 20 yet. Okay? They're in their late, late teens. And a lot of them, you know, some of them have moved from Chesterfield, some from Guelph, some from Stratville, Stittsville from Frank, from, from Mississauga, London. They're from all over, okay? And it's a team that we've been able to see, you know, grow together. And I think this playoff run, if they can get in there, would be just pivotal to their development, but also to bond these players together. So this is a time to get out, to enjoy. Like Trudes just said, four games the next day at home and let's get out and support and let's give Andrew Gibson the warm welcome that he deserves, okay? Because he loved playing in Sault Ste. Marie. I know from just what I've heard, but also people that are ties with the organization much. He loved it. It wasn't easy for him to leave despite looking forward to a good championship run. It's you play junior days. Those are valuable times in your young career. And every person we've had on this podcast from guys like Rob Shrimp and even guys from Theo Fleury on that have talked about their early days, you Know you never forget those times and moments in junior and obviously I don't mean to bring up Flurry in the way that I have because obviously Flurry had a rough go when it comes to junior hockey. But I bring it up in the fact that that did affect him as a player growing up in a development side from a. From a very negative perspective. But guys who may have had different experiences such as the Shrimps in the world and so on about, you know, what led to specific different careers, these are pivotal moments for kids in general. Okay. And I think it's good for playoff experience but it's good to give the experience to the kid about being that passionate fan base because that's a hard working steel town. It's good when those. When. When the GFL and the Gardens are packed. There's nothing more passionate in the Ontario Hockey League. And call me Bias, but then Sault Ste Marie fans, let me tell you loud, proud. Show that roar for the Hounds. For that bark. That's what I should be saying. Show that bark and support the Hounds. So it's going to be. Everyone's had different experiences in juniors what I mean to say. And everything could go in a different direction. But Andrew Gibson had a good one here in the Sioux and let's give him a warm welcome and it'd be good to see Brady Martin get out there and continue this hot streak and increase that draft stock because despite what it may look like, it's good to see Trudes. Right. So.
[00:56:08] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:56:09] Speaker A: And one more thing before we go.
Just want to give full props to the organization. They are actually putting on a. There's a charity game tomorrow night so recording.
[00:56:20] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:56:21] Speaker A: Yeah the security game tomorrow 5:15 and it's. It's so what they've been doing for the past couple months they've been working with Challenger so Challenger Games and it's called Greyhounds Guardians that they've.
[00:56:40] Speaker B: That's right.
[00:56:40] Speaker A: So they've been working with athletes um. That athlete representatives for the Special Olympics. So with dis. Intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities and they're going to put on a like a full on game like with music DJ officials so that like it's just a donation $2 tomorrow night. So I don't know if we'll be. I don't know if you'll be able to catch our. Because if we release on Thursday. But anyway full like full props the organization on like give it just giving back to the community. They've been fantastic like they've been awesome the past few years in their Community involvement. So yeah, like another great thing about these, these young men again like just like so young, moving away from home and then being able to devote, like being so busy being able to devote some of their time and the coaching staff as well devote some of the time to give back to the communities. Just awesome.
[00:57:39] Speaker B: Speaks wonders I my bid is for to give the greyhounds recognition locally for what they are starting to do in the community. More so and that's a big, big name for us in our community to have be a part of because a lot of kids look up to these young players. I remember being younger, looking up to Jeff Carter and now a friend of mine, Tyler Kennedy, you know, being younger and him being a bit older when he showed up at my surprise birthday party when I was like, I think 10 and like 11. I remember being the happiest kid on earth, right? It's these greyhounds play a big part in the community. There's been a lot of big names in this organization from years past to now and guys like Braden Martin, these young guys that are, you know, going to are the face of this team. To have them in the community and do these fundraisers are great, but everyone behind the scenes needs the kudos and we've talked about that a couple times on this podcast about travel and everyone who's in the background, the radio from Jerry Liscom throughout the entire organization. Pat on the back. It's great to see T.R. i. I appreciate you doing that shout out because I completely forgot about that, to be honest. So it's great that you're on top of that because I wasn't today. So definitely get out. And also follow not just our page, but the Ohl Suave Me Greyhound Tik Tok page. Truths, my friend. As we hit the, as we hit the conclusion here, do you have any final thoughts before we wrap up?
[00:58:57] Speaker A: Nope.
[00:58:58] Speaker B: No. Great.
[00:58:58] Speaker A: Go Hounds, go.
[00:58:59] Speaker B: That's a good thought. That's a great way to end it. Always get out and support. This has been Chuck a Puck here, the third segment of tonight's episode. Trudes, thanks as always, my friend.
[00:59:09] Speaker A: Thank you very much, Dave.
[00:59:10] Speaker B: Yes, and I won't try it, but come on Hounds. But I'm saying it in the way of the legend. Okay. If you know, you know. I also want to say thank you to Brandon McCarthy and Alex Parr. Alex, for taking part of two, two segments today. One just an opening segment talking WWE, but also our top shelf segment. We got into everything NHL with the trade deadline around the corner and again to Trude's Jordan Trudeau for being part of our Chuck A. Puck segment.
