But just so you're aware, you may have been directed here through our social media pages, which is through TikTok, Instagram as well as Facebook. That's at the Game Sports Podcast that you can check that out and in particular TikTok. Let's just say that we appreciate all the follows and interactions that has happened over the past, well, let's say couple days but since our last week's edition and it's been a pleasure to interact with their recent clip and we're going to be diving in that in just a moment. Tonight's agenda, you got yours truly kicking off the show and I have Justin Heik waiting as well. Well, we're going to have a brief in the Pocket segment after I'm done, my introduction and also my predictions for the Olympics in 2001 HL redraft quickly before Justin comes and chats in the pocket and then we're going to have a devoted segment to Chuck a Puck. Now usually Chuck A Puck is about local with the Suse Marie greyhounds, but also when it comes to the world, the the national junior stage, the major junior stage, if you will, from the OHL perspective. But even with the WHL and Q overall mostly diving into the ohl.
But today we're going to have a different approach and we're very excited about this as it's certainly been quite the highlighted issue here locally, but not even just locally in Sault Ste. Marie, but outside of the Sault. It's not even just in Ontario. It's went global. This issue that happened in Sault Ste. Marie just a few weeks back at a recent youth hockey tournament, both rep and house league tournament where there was a lot of incidents that have happened. You can check out our previous edition of the game to see what those additions, what those incidents rather were as NOHA had a statement as well as Suitedea has had much news covering it as well as other news outlets. But the Game Sports podcast will be having the official Andrew that had the threats towards him by apparent come on today to have an exclusive interview with myself and Jordan Trudeau to give his side of the story for the first time and also to dive into more when it comes to officiating into the game when it comes to youth hockey. Lots to get into when Andrew comes on at around 7:30 for us. So this is a pre recorded segment for us which you know we had a lot of fans and listeners say do a live segment so we can have live questions. Look, the Game sports podcast will get there one day. It's not that we couldn't do it. We could have just with the sensitivity of the issue and also with Andrew wanted to make sure that he feels comfortable and set up for success. We hogged him to ourselves when it comes to a pre recording about that. It's stuff we'll look at in the future.
Now last week before I introduced Justin, I had a conversation with Brandon McCarthy about predicting our Olympic gold medalists and silver and the bronze. It's just a little dark horse picks for myself and when we wanted to upload that clip the quality may not have been where it was to suffice. So I wanted to make sure that I give you and remind of our predictions this week. If you want to hear Brendan's reactions again, check out last week's edition. It's still certainly relevant to dive into here for this week, especially with our content this week as I've already laid out our agenda. But to give you some piece of news tonight as of recording the female hockey team just got beat by The United States 5 nothing. It was certainly even without Marie Philippe Poulet. The United States looked like superior hockey team out there out shooting them really looking dominant did they against the Canadians. So obviously Canada putting them in a place where they're in a in a need to win. So maybe they could potentially look at avoiding United States to the gold medal which I think would be the approach. But every game you just got to go in there with a mindset to win. I'm enjoying watching the Olympic hockey. I love it and I love the jerseys. I want everyone to know that I'm a fan of the jersey. That's why I'm wearing the plaid today. I'm wearing the red and black you've seen on video. I'm so supporting not just the Canadian look, but the Canadian colors for the Olympics. But just around the corner as we recorded on Tuesday the men's play less than 48 hours. By the time you hear this clip, it might have been the games have already started. Maybe you've already listened to the show and you're seeing this in your in your queue and on your for your page, whatever it may be. But I'm going to give you what I think is going to be from 1, 2 and 3 with the men's Olympic team and then just a couple dark horses. I want to mention I went into a lot more detail last week, but just to give you a reminder and interact on through our social media platforms potentially and below in our comment section either on YouTube or any of the audio platforms. So men's hockey. Okay, I I know people have asked about what I feel for the women's team and my original prediction was Canada 1 in the United States 2 with also Sweden being 3. That was my original pick for females. I'm not going to change but certainly United States are certainly making it seeming that they're the favorites when it comes to the female side. So that's one thing we missed last week for predictions. So I'll give you that from the female. That was my original predictions but I'm afraid of that prediction because of what I saw today with states. But please prove me wrong. Canadian ladies against the States and hopefully the gold medal game. But men's hockey for prediction. All right, I'll get to this finally after I've been teasing it for the last minute bouncing around the question Canada 1, USA 2 Sweden 3 essentially the female and the male I had in the same standing categories but for the Canadian men's team, this team is just too dominant that I feel that just can't be beat. You look at the United States, they do have a very impressive lineup, very good goaltending to the United States. Okay. It doesn't matter if Hellebok has been struggling in playoff before. This was Olympic, Olympic hockey. It's a little bit different. Sweden, I'm telling you, Sweden's got a very like that team can't be taken lightly. Not that they are okay being a bronze medals from the team that they have. They have a very good hockey team, well put together and if Finland had Barkov they would also be so those four nation teams are the four, like four favorites of course, but I got Canada one, USA two, Sweden three, which means Canada gets gold stakes get silver and Sweden will get the bronze. But I have some notable dark horses I want to mention. Czechia, Switzerland and Germany. The biggest dark horse for me is Switzerland, such an impressive hockey program that has grown over the years and has progressed greatly and goaltending has been highlighted as an issue for them with Schmidt and net. But it's weird because in the Olympics and when it comes to playing for your country, this is where you really elevate your game. And if you remember how Schmid was when he played for New Jersey, he really knew how to elevate his game and I feel like he's going to step up this tournament and I think that Switzerland and Czechia being the notable one, two punch when it comes to dark horses. I have a When I look at Switzerland's team with he sure was Eigenthal or Meyer. They have a few New Jersey representatives of course, but very well put and structured defensively. That's what I think is going to be an effective push for Switzerland. I think they're going to certainly make it very interesting and shouldn't be taken lightly by any of the powerhouse teams that I use in quotations. There's multiple teams on that front. So to recap, Canada, U.S. sweden, gold, silver, bronze, dark horses, Czechia, Switzerland, Germany. Switzerland's got the biggest dark horse for me. Comment below. Who you think will be the winners for both females and males in particular? What do you think is going to happen in the remainder of the Olympics? We're interested in that as well as a friend of ours and friend of the show, Brad Jacobs. Okay, we're definitely cheering on him to win gold and this has been a lot of good storylines the Olympics thus far. That is for sure the next thing I want to get into. As I said, if you want to hear more Olympic discussions on last Week's show, the 2001 NHL Redraft, we will be introducing these back and I wanted to share with you the top five picks if I had to do the 2001 NHL redraft today and for your enjoyment and to give feedback about one of the more challenging ones, I feel like players could have been all over here, but going from five to one, the fifth overall pick. The Anaheim Ducks are proud to select Craig Anderson, the fourth overall pick. The Florida Panthers are proudest like Dan Hamus Damuse when he was playing third overall pick, Tampa Bay Lightning select Jason Palmenville men's league legend as well, Jason Palmenville. Give that a Google. It is absolutely hilarious. With the second overall pick, the Ottawa Senators are proud to select Ilia Kovalchuk. And with the first overall pick, the Atlanta Thrashers are proud to select Jason Spencer. Comment below who you think the top five would be in the 2001 NHL Draft. Okay, so I went through my introduction, I'm a couple minutes over and I went into in the pocket time as Justin waits patiently. Let's bring in Justin for our final in the pocket segment of the year, the season nine finale. As we get into just a quick review of the super bowl and there's actually a lot to get into there. So what I'm going to do is I'll introduce Justin, I'll give a little bit of brief recap for me, then I'm letting Justin take the floor until the end of the segment as we only got about 10 minutes or so here to dive into before we welcome in Trudeau and Andrew for our chocolate segment. Hike, my friend. How you doing?
[00:09:44] Speaker B: Not bad. Good to be back. I'm finally feeling alive again today after all the eating I did on Sunday. And let's let's recap the game that.
[00:09:52] Speaker A: Was it was now in the pocket partner with Sports Center Bar and Grill located in Susan, Ontario. Can't forget that as well. And the crew over at Sports Center. Hopefully you enjoyed the game when you were there checking it out. That is you the listeners. Because if you were in Susan re hopefully you were down at SportsCenter. If you're asking why I wasn't, I'm a father and I got a little seven month old. Okay. That's my excuse. Now, Justin, I'm going to give just a couple brief reactions because like I said for time, I have a hard time staying when it comes in line with time. And obviously today I got to stick to the agenda. So I'm really challenged by that right now as we already come. It's over.
Here's my feedback. We were right about Seattle just being overmatching New England in that game. Fake may just pressured the entire game. The super bowl halftime show not getting into from a political perspective. Okay. We don't do that on the show. But I loved it. It. Okay. I, I don't it wasn't my favorite halftime show in terms of performance. I'm not a big Bad Bunny fan. I don't have them on my Spotify list by any means. My favorite of all time was Dr. Dre's when he did that I love that. That's arguably my favorite. There's a couple older ones as well that I really enjoy. But the halftime show was great. It was. It was a vibe, you know, like, like. And a lot of people waited in their seats. There was over 700, 000 toilets that flushed after the halftime show. Okay, that means a lot of people held in their pee while they were listening to the half the game sports podcast today. I was vibing. I was loving the guests. I was loving that Lady Gaga was there and Ricky Martin and it was well choreographed. Canada getting shot out like whoa. Which I won't get into political again. But it was certainly, I feel really, it was a good halftime show. Was it the best? No. Was it the worst? Heck no. I still give it a higher. A higher score in terms of just the overall, the vibe and the enjoyment of the show. The game was awful. I did not. I felt the game was not entertaining. I thought it was still because of the competitiveness, but it was enjoyable to watch a team to so dominant. That's the other side. So the game, I don't mean to say it was awful. I shouldn't say that term too much, but I feel that there was a lot of opportunity. The game could have been better if New England was more competitive in the game, but they weren't. So overall feedback, super bowl halftime show, thumbs up if you don't like that opinion. Sorry, I'm entitled to that. And the super bowl game, thumbs down. But it's only because of it not being equally matched. And it went as expected. But Seattle Hoof is a powerhouse. That game that was, that was just great to watch. The dark side they're called now, though not the Legion of Boom. They're called the dark side at work. And Drake May was a lost puppy out there. That's my feedback with the Super Bowl. Justin. I tried. I kept that under three minutes, so that's good. The rest of the time is you for your feedback on the Super Bowl.
[00:12:32] Speaker B: Well, I mean this is. This is just a straight up defense wins championships. I don't think, honestly, if you look at a lot of the teams we had in the AFC in the playoffs, you can't pick one out of that list and say they would have fared any better in that game against Seattle. The Patriots were pretty rock solid most of the year. Drake May stayed upright. I mean Drake May had enough protection all season to almost get the mvp. So like we're not second season. Like all the trash talk on the Patriots offensive line. I'm not really buying into either.
[00:13:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:08] Speaker B: Did they have a rough game? 100%. But I mean, like, the other end of that is like Seattle's defense had a really, really, really, really good game. Probably the best game we've seen a defense play in the super bowl in a long time.
Eagles defense last year, pretty solid, containing Mahomes and shutting them down. But that, you know, there's a lot of tape out there on, on the Chiefs. Whereas Seattle and the paint, like these are, these are fresh teams going into the season. No one, really, no one would have picked either of these two teams.
[00:13:40] Speaker C: Nope.
[00:13:42] Speaker B: Seattle, Seattle wouldn't have even been on my radar to make it as a wild card, to be completely honest, because there's other teams in that. The Rams, San Fran, you know, the Lions weren't there.
[00:13:53] Speaker A: Chiefs weren't there.
[00:13:54] Speaker B: There was. From the NFC side, I don't think there was a better team than Seattle. And from the AFC side of things, the teams that were in the playoffs, I don't think any of those teams, sorry, Bills fans, would have competed against that defense.
[00:14:09] Speaker A: Not even the Bills. Not as much as we sit here and say the Bills year, I don't think they would have beat Seattle.
[00:14:14] Speaker B: I think Houston's defense against Seattle's offense would have been cool. But again, the Patriots defense didn't play bad. The Patri defense played a great game.
Like it was a hockey game. For most of the first half of the game we were looking at a kicker maybe being the, you know, the highest scoring player in the game.
[00:14:34] Speaker A: Shut up.
[00:14:34] Speaker B: Kenneth Walker as well. I mean, I don't want to miss that. He had a hell of a game.
[00:14:39] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:14:39] Speaker B: I believe he's Michigan State alum as well. Kenneth Walker.
[00:14:43] Speaker A: You got it. Free agent as well.
[00:14:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Hell of a, hell of a time to pop off, you know what I mean? Biggest stage of the year, last game of the year. Anyone that needs a running back, I'm pretty. All right, here's, here's my resume. Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, I think good on him and like the guy, he seems like a, A genuine, like just quiet team guy. Because all the interviews after the game, like he seemed. I was getting uncomfortable for him because just he didn't. I don't think he was ready for the moment. He was ready for the moment in the game as a player. I don't think he was ready in the moment for a person, for what was coming afterwards, especially winning the MVP and what comes with that. Hopefully he had a nice day at Disneyland on Monday. And you know, Sam Darnold as well, I believe. First quarterback in that 2018 draft to win a Super Bowl.
[00:15:35] Speaker A: Now five teams in that many years.
[00:15:37] Speaker B: Too, and just a rough road to get where he was. And like the fallout from, you know, this Sam Darnold tree of things. The Minnesota Vikings had their biggest issue this year was quarterback. And what did they do? They got rid of Sam Darnold, they got rid of Daniel Jones, got JJ McCarthy like it just does. And I don't think the fault is completely on. I'm kind of segueing here from the super bowl, but I don't think the fault there is on J.J. mcCarthy. I think a lot of weight got thrown on that kid's shoulders and the GM paid the price.
[00:16:09] Speaker A: Did. But what do you rate the game in the halftime show, Justin? And like I said, we're not. I'm going to remind people we don't dive into politics here on this podcast in the show before. We never have.
Leave. Leave. We like, we leave that out. Okay?
[00:16:23] Speaker C: We leave that out.
[00:16:24] Speaker B: I'm a defensive guy, so I thought it was great. I also really don't like the Patriots, so.
[00:16:30] Speaker A: Yeah, okay, fair.
[00:16:31] Speaker B: It was. It was great seeing them get fed because I thought, here we go, another.
[00:16:35] Speaker A: Dynasty in the making.
[00:16:37] Speaker B: Not necessarily. I think, I think the AFC has a good batch of quarterbacks, but I don't, I don't think the Broncos would have been any better. And I, I'd like a Broncos or Broncos fans to honest opinion on that. I don't, Given the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl, I don't think the Broncos would have been a. Had any better of a chance in that game against that defense. In that moment. That defense was lights out as far as the halftime show goes. I, I was, you know what I mean? I was into it, bobbing my head, tapping my toes. I didn't know. I probably caught a couple words out of it. But honestly, the music was good. The whole thing seemed to be a bit of a vibe. If you can't have fun with it, like, it was not for everybody.
You know what I mean? Like my parents, you know, some of the older generation, maybe not their jam, but we've had Super Bowls that were older acts that weren't our jam, so such is life. It was entertaining and it keeps people talking about football. It's good for everybody.
[00:17:31] Speaker A: Yeah. And I think that toilet. Toilet flushing thing was a fun fact for you for the day.
[00:17:35] Speaker B: Yeah, that blew me. I didn't.
[00:17:36] Speaker C: I didn't.
[00:17:38] Speaker B: That was. That's like the stat of the day. That Blew just my mind right there.
[00:17:41] Speaker A: Yeah, I won't take credit for that. The score posted that the other day. I'll be. I won't take that credit. Sorry. It's not that I knew you think I don't have. I don't have connections to everyone's toilets so I don't have the stats to get that for you. So wanted to share this case. Anyone missed that on their feed in.
[00:17:56] Speaker B: Case anyone was worried that Dave had a connection to their toilet. He doesn't.
[00:17:59] Speaker A: Yeah, it never. I do not. I do not. Justin, my friend, a little bit shorter. I've been in the pocket but as the off season goals we'll have you on but I would love to get you back into some hockey segments for some bigger news as we go. So you'll certainly be. He's got his leaf gear on. People have asked me, you know, they've asked when is Justin going to come on and chat a little hockey? You have to give the listeners what they're waiting for. We'll have to get you back and not wait until the football season resumes after summer. So nonetheless, my friend, it's been a great season. 9 of in the Pocket. I am the in the pocket Pick em game sports podcast champion this year in a very awful year, we will not go back to the standings. A very interesting year. But overall the Seattle Seahawks super bowl champions for 2026. So Justin, thank you for taking the time as always my friend and we're going to be in touch.
[00:18:49] Speaker B: Yeah, good. Good to be here. Good chatting and we'll be back for some hockey talk maybe in the next week or two. I'll put the red shirt on instead of this one.
[00:18:57] Speaker A: Yeah, put on the, the, the Hockey Canada shirt. I reordered one of those jerseys aren'.
[00:19:03] Speaker B: I don't like that the armband doesn't go all the way around. That's my honest opinion.
[00:19:07] Speaker A: Good point.
[00:19:08] Speaker B: It looks like a fanatics cop out kind of thing. But that's a story for another day guys draped in fanatics stuff right now. Trash talking them.
[00:19:17] Speaker D: Love it.
[00:19:17] Speaker A: Justin, thank you very much my friend. We'll be in touch. Have a good rest of your.
[00:19:21] Speaker B: You too man. Have a good night.
[00:19:24] Speaker A: Now he Justin has say again, thank you very much to Justin and I want to do a quick little shout out. It's my close friend Jerry Patangalo's birthday on February 8. Want to make sure I give him a birthday shout out but. And welcome back to the game sports podcast. Andrew Palaya. I get a lot of emphasis on that has joined us now, has joined Jordan Trudeau and I now. Andrew, before we go to you, I got to say hi to Jordan Trudeau. I didn't get the chance to do that as he was waiting. Trudeau, how you doing, my friend?
[00:19:49] Speaker D: I'm doing great, Dave.
[00:19:50] Speaker A: Good, good. Great, man. Chuck a puck, it's always fun. Or chukkapuck segments if it's top shelf in the pocket or chuck a puck, we're having a good time. But chuck a puck, which is normally hounds and ohl chatter with some major junior chatter. We're taking a different direction today. Something that I know you and I both, both enjoy getting into, to really get into topics around. Well, not just locally here. This certainly expanded outside of Sault Ste. Marie and our last week's episode certainly took off on tick tock. Not only did we get more awareness and people have been more aware of what's going on, more articles have come out today, in particular with Sue. Today we also learned that Jordan Trudeau has been a French teacher. So the world of social media is amazing, but nonetheless, Andrew Palaya. I'm gonna say it multiple times, so it stinks in my brain. Thank you for taking. Yeah, thanks for taking the time to come on, my friend. How you been?
[00:20:40] Speaker C: Really good. You know what? Really good. Busy. You know, having two kids playing hockey and a swimmer is something that I don't recommend for anyone if you don't, if you don't value your mental health. But you know what? It's. It's fun.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: It is. Now I want, I'm gonna dive right into it because this is what people, we promised our listeners and viewers is something we would have on and we appreciate you taking the time and we saved the best segments for today's show. Last. For last.
[00:21:04] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:21:05] Speaker A: And last week we talked about the NOHA having instances that were made aware that they're currently investigating. And there's been a lot of discussion about it. And you were, are. We're in our. The. The official that was involved in that incident. And I want to give you the floor about kind of giving a. Reminding the viewers and listeners what happened, what you were faced with and kind of diving into everything leading up to today, what, what has transpired and everything that has taken effect in this. In this absolute, unbelievable, inappropriate, again, wild circumstance.
[00:21:40] Speaker C: 100% man. So. So it was Refina finals. Finals for U13 houzzle and regular game. It was 5:1. It was a little bit of a blowout. But you know what? That happens in hockey, especially in finals, especially in Tournament, right? Kids are jacked up. That's just how she goes. So after the, after Zamboni, the teams went off the ice. Zamboni was coming out, he was doing his thing. I moved one of the nets and then I saw. So my kids, I go to coach U11 hosting team. So I saw them in the corner and I mean, you were running behind. So I was like, okay, I'm gonna go over and say hi to them. So I usually never go that way because it just causes issues and whatever. So I went that way because I saw them and they were all jacked. Like, I mean, 10 year old kids that are playing hockey are crazy and hockey are great. They're jumping up and down. They love seeing the coach out there doing whatever. They didn't really know I was arrested and they found out OG this is really cool. So I was over there, I saw them and I happened to catch out of the corner of my eye a hockey parent. Not sure where it was from, not sure, whatever. But he looks me dead in the eye and he does this boo. And I can hear him, boo, you suck. So I'm looking at him like, what do you mean, man? Like, what's going on? My face was just like that. What do you mean? So I, I keep, I kind of disengage with him. I kind of, you know what I mean? Like, take it somewhere else. I don't really care talking about this. And he looks at me and he goes, you should go kill yourself. And he does this right across my throat. And I'm sitting, I'm looking out, I'm like, did that just happen? Like, did this actually just happen? I've never ever in my time. And I mean, I've been wrestling, I've been in hockey since I was, I think I was 6 years old when I started playing hockey. And I mean, I went all the way through, stopped. I stopped playing when I was in Peewee. I got hurt really bad when I was in Peewee. I've been wrestling since I was 14 years old. I'm 38 now. I've been doing it for, I don't know. You do the math. I, I can't do that, that much math.
[00:23:19] Speaker A: 24 years. 24, 24, 25.
[00:23:22] Speaker C: So I'm looking at him stunned. And I mean, I was kind of thinking like, I need to go fight this guy. Obviously not going to do that because A, there's kids around, B, there's parents around. It's a hockey rink. Like, we don't, we don't do that. In the culture of hockey, fans shouldn't be fighting fans. Fans should be doing this. I was like, you know what, man? Whatever. So I went over, talked to my kids, did whatever, went to the room, and, I mean, I was fired up. I was. There were four other guys in there they were getting for the next game, and I was mad. Like, I was talking to these guys. Like, I can't believe this just happened. I was rushing to get out of the shower so I could see. If I go find this guy and just confront him, I'd be like, man, what's. Like, what's wrong with you? So all these parents were around, kind of down in the corner. They were talking, and they're like, yeah, yeah, we saw this guy. We know this guy. I was like, what's his name? Where is he? They're like, well, we don't know his name, but we know what he looked like. We know this. So they heard it.
He acknowledged what happened, and they said, you know what? I'm really sorry that happened to you. And I was like, okay, that's. That's. That's fine. Because at that point, I wasn't worried about it. I was like, you know what? I'm gonna go with my kids. We play. We play the next game. So I'm just gonna go in there, hang out with them, get them pumped.
And. Yeah, I mean, our kids, we lost. Whatever. It is what it is. Like, I said tournament. I went home, and I was kind of sitting there contemplating boat. I'm like, you know what? This actually really bothered me. And my biggest thing is I'm an adult. I can take. I can take stuff like that. No one should ever have to take stuff like that. Number one.
I'm like, you know what, man? I'm gonna write a social media post. I'm gonna write one. I never do it. I'm not that kind of guy that's gonna do something like that. But I was like, you know what? This. This kind of needs to be brought to light. So I did what I did. I wrote. I wrote it. Very professional in my mind. I think it was very professional. I got told by one of my hockey ref friends, and she's like, you know what? You should share this. So I was like, okay. So I just shared it publicly, not realizing. I think it's. I think it's sitting at, like, 750 some odd shares or something right now.
I never intended to do this, but I'm kind of glad I did, because you know what? It's. It's been. It's been shared so many times. I've had so many people reach out to me. I've had people from bc, Alberta, Nova Scotia, like Minnesota. I've had so many people reach out to me, don't even knew who I am, don't even whatever just say, you know what man, I'm sorry this happened to you. It's not right. I've reft hockey before. I've coached, I've been involved in hockey, whatever. That should never happen to anyone.
And I mean it's just the, the outpouring of support that I've. I felt from this is insane. Like guys at work are like man, you're gonna be famous. And like, you know, all my kids are like, yeah you guys, you're gonna be famous. Like this is awesome. I mean famous. I don't think that's the right word. I think it's me. It's more awareness for stuff, right? Like you never know what, what's going through someone's head. And I mean hockey Canada pushes mental health so much now. Like mental resilience. And I mean I think high like schools do that too. Like mental resilience is a very, very important topic right now. And I mean I just don't want a kid, teen, 15, 16 year old kid who's reffing hockey to ever have to ever have to feel that way. And then, and like I said in my post, right. I'm going to say it again. What happens if that 14 year old kid took that the wrong way and say, you know what, I'm going to go home and I'm going to do that because I did suck. You're right.
[00:26:24] Speaker A: Like, you know, honestly. And when you go up to the point where he said you should go kill yourself, I'm going to flat out say that, you know, for the way that you felt. Wanting to confront the individual and do it is more mature even than I would have reacted just in particular with this show alone. And for those who are loyal to the Game Sports podcast, know this kind of bit more on a personal level, but we hold that very personally here on the show. We definitely raise awareness a lot for our original co founders, Scott Nason, who is my former partner with, with with the show, who think you can pick up what I'm putting down by getting into that piece. So it's. That is not appropriate in any level outside of being a rink or in life. You could be nothing, not in any sort of way. The matter and the way that the rinks have been, the comments that have been flooding in on TikTok social media and for you to have to handle that. I'm sorry that that had had to happen because that is something that no one should face because it's something that that that told that when you have that happen the frustration builds and bothers you and you don't feel the reward for the work that you're doing in which as a ref they don't get the respect that they deserve. And that pisses me off is the word that I'll say they never. The respect hasn't been there. But what I am, what I am enjoying to see since this incident happened is the awareness that has been coming up from it. And you and I were talking about yesterday and I'm going to take a quote right from you that you said talking how pushing mental health in with players and refs.
[00:27:54] Speaker C: Right.
[00:27:54] Speaker A: It all works into it this with ref abuse. If you look at this recent post with Suited A there's Scott Raycroft who I know from outside, who I know that you know and Trudes would know quote unquote.
[00:28:05] Speaker C: He's my uncle. I know him very well.
[00:28:07] Speaker A: I know there you look at that.
[00:28:09] Speaker C: I come from a hockey family, man. Ray Croft is one that everyone knows and I mean especially from that my grandpa raft in, in he raft all the way up to Ohl. He wrapped like Canada world stuff like my uncle, same thing. My, my cousin Paul, Tom, Chuck, same thing, man. Like it's, it's just, it's. It's the generational kind of thing that it, it's. I like I enjoy doing this partly because of that because you know what I they, I, I take those guys in such high regard and such high role models for myself to see that stuff. And when they're like yeah, yeah man, try reffing. I was like yeah, you know what? I'm gonna do it because of these guys.
Yeah.
[00:28:44] Speaker D: And Scott, Scott reft at a higher level too. And like he's repped the no JHL and I know he coached my sister and I've, I've coached with Richard Nero and he's been one of my uncle's best friends like and he's a great ref, a great coach too. And for him to kind of weigh in on this is. Is cool too. I guess I'm just kind of like jumping in here. But I just wanted to. I did like this one quote from the Sue Today article that I literally just read. I had no idea that they actually put out a follow up article.
But this, this is from the professor that they got for an interview. But he says because they talk about how there's a mentorship program for referees, but it literally. He literally says it shouldn't be put on the referees, that they have to do something about this, which is literally the point of your post. And it's exactly what we're being brought on here to talk about. You know, there. There can be all this like pre preparation for young referees or even new referees coming into the. The job force, the profession, but nobody should have to deal with that. Nobody should. Nobody. That should be under no circumstance appropriate for anybody of any age, any level of referee to be able to go through what you did. I mean, I think.
I don't know if this is still a thing, but is there a parent course that the parents have to take? Do you know anything about that, Andrew? Like that before they had rolled their kids in hockey.
[00:30:07] Speaker C: So I'm pretty sure it's called respect in sport. I think it's like a. It's a behavioral contract I think you have to sign.
I think there are videos for it, but I think it's only happens once and then you don't have to do it again.
[00:30:20] Speaker A: And what's the attention span in that? Let's get honest for a second here. Okay, I can.
[00:30:24] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:30:24] Speaker A: What's the care level from parents you feel like in that? If obviously, quote, unquote, I've been. I've seen people get spit on, I've been spit on. I've had coffee thrown at me. You name it. People don't care anymore. They just don't care anymore because they feel there's no repercussions. That quote from the article that we are that Trude alluded to a few moments ago says it right then and there that parents don't care anyways and they feel like there's no repercussions and they're not being mindful of other people, of their actions towards other people. And that is not the type of adults that should be at a rink, be a mentor for kids, should be. Shouldn't be reffing, shouldn't be doing any of that. It is completely. It is completely uncalled for. It's completely unacceptable. And there has to be change, Andrew.
[00:31:07] Speaker C: There has to be change, man. I wholeheartedly agree. And you know what? If this were to happen outside of a hockey rink, what would happen? You'd be going.
You would be going away in handcuffs. If you. If you threaten someone like that, you'll be going away in handcuffs. You spit on someone, you berate Them you do this in public, you're going away. Anything, anything. Verbal assault, physical assault, doesn't matter, you are going away in handcuffs, you're going to get charged and you know what does it have to come to that? I don't know. Maybe. But, but I mean like it's, it's so hard to. I, I get fired up about this topic a lot because you know what? It's. So there's.
Yeah, you know what? Refs are human. Ref makes mistakes. It is what it is. We train. I mean like, like I said, I've been referenced for 24 years. I did the Noj trail. I did the knowledge. I was, I was in that stuff. Stuff. I just, you know, with my kids. I, I had to step back. But would I love to be doing that right now? Yeah. 100 but I had to step back. And you know what? It's, it's for it to get to the point where you have to consider like I've read some comments on this. People are considering maybe we should have police at every single hockey game. Are you not? Why do we need police at a hockey game? Yeah, like yeah, maybe Greyhound game. Sure. Because that's a whole different bag of gaga friggin whatever. But I don't, I don't understand why anyone would say lead police at a hockey game. Like police yourselves. And I mean yes, yes. Just kind of going into that too. Right. Like there are specific procedures that we have to follow if someone does become a ruling and everything. And I mean the last resort is obviously the police, but should the coaches not be kind of like at the beginning of the year? So I coach hockey, I tell my parents all the time, you know what?
Cheer respectfully, trust the process and I'll get your kids better not just playing hockey.
[00:32:48] Speaker D: Life.
[00:32:49] Speaker C: Right. The principles I preach in hockey in the hockey room are respect. Respect for yourself, respect for your team, respect for the game, respect for officials, respect for your parents, for coming out at 9:30 at night to sit there freezing cold. If you lose 10 nothing, who cares?
Best memories, effort and have fun.
[00:33:09] Speaker A: I remember we talked about this yesterday Andrew. We.
What do you remember most? I remember we talked about. I talk about what I remembered most as a hockey player.
[00:33:17] Speaker C: Right.
[00:33:18] Speaker A: Was not that I played. I know JHL was the highest everyone knows on the show. There's a running joke you know about. Oh, Dave mentioned how he played hockey again. Junior. Yeah, I did. I, I went from a house league player to a junior player because I worked my ass off when I was 13 training to get to that point what I wanted didn't work out. But I say hockey did work out for me because look what I'm doing today. So at the end of the day I, I. What I remember most is those times at the hotels in the hospitality room played mini sticks. Joe Longo, local, local known guy. Everyone knows Joe Longo. Okay, he used to. There's Dave Nacholi. Rest Dave. God rest Dave Nacholi. What time is it? Sports Gold time when he used to run Sports Gold. The list goes on. We used to do something called Zoltan. If you know that, if you know, you know it's from. Dude, where's my car? Me and Joe, I remember these memories as a kid and playing many sticks and my dad be in the hospitality room, maybe having a couple too many and coming back to the room and parents just laughing, having a good time and, and you know there were some parents arguments, don't get me wrong and I don't think my parents were clear from that either. But never the level that I've seen here. And if it was, it was obviously swept under the rug from what players knew. Obviously I can't pull out any old archives, but you remember the times as a kid from those memories in Joe Longo and the whole team. He had the whole 10 of us in his car. Sorry Joe. 10 of us in his car going down Wawa Main street listening to Thunderstruck and AC DC. You know what I'm saying? Those are things that you look back and you say wow. And the last thing that I'll say, piddle. Why am I saying Padiddle? Because that's a game that we used to play with one of my hockey coaches when we were driving to the rink when there's one headlight out in the car, we would say Padiddle. See, and I was six years old when I started playing that. And me, my wife play that in the truck right now. And I'm 34. There's things that you take back with memories that you always enjoy. This is the stuff that is poison for the game, poison for your kids to be a part of. You are bringing forward a toxic environment and reacting in a youth kids tournament. I don't care if, if it's house, league or rep, it is a joke. It is not appropriate. Refs need to be treated with respect. Players need to be treated with respect. Coaches need to be treated with respect. And I know there was more outside of your, unfortunately there was more to outside of your issue from, from what you faced was there was parents Yelling against players. There was a dad coming on video to intentionally hurt players. Like, what. What is going on here? Smarten up. That is, that is not the way that this game is played. And I've talked about on the show so many times that hockey development in this town. Sorry, let me rephrase. In Canada has definitely deterred where it needs to.
[00:35:50] Speaker C: It's not.
[00:35:50] Speaker A: And it's not going in the direction that it should be. And there needs to be change. Sorry, Truth. I know you had no mention.
[00:35:56] Speaker C: Oh, no.
[00:35:58] Speaker A: I thought I cut you off.
[00:36:00] Speaker D: I thought I.
I mean, you're, you're right on the money. And who's it going to hurt in the end? Like this behavior, this type of, like this, this type of negative media attention, you know, if it keeps going and it keeps getting worse, it keeps getting worse again. Like the peewee extravaganza is just no longer going to exist. So the, the tournament itself, somebody's someday is just gonna say, well, we're not going to do this anymore because people can't handle it. And then that hurts the kids, that hurts the community, that hurts everything. So. Everything.
[00:36:33] Speaker C: And that's what it's all about.
Yeah, the kids. I put it right on. Right on that first post. Man, hockey's for the kids, isn't it?
[00:36:43] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:36:44] Speaker C: Everyone loses sight of that. You know what? And I get it. Like kids. Thank you, thank you. I get it.
Everyone wants their kid to be a superstar. And you know what? Parents pay a lot of money to play hockey nowadays. It's, it's. It's expensive to put a kid on the ice.
[00:36:58] Speaker A: 30,000 for rep. I heard $30,000.
[00:37:02] Speaker C: It's crazy. It's crazy like to put. To put a hostly kid like you. 15 hosty kids. So my kids and you 50.
The. Whatever the fee was. 780 bucks or 800 bucks or something. And then you're doing team fees and then you're doing a tournament and then you're doing this. And yeah, you know what? You want value? What are the stuff. But I mean, I hate to say it this way. I might. I may piss some people off, but where's your kid gonna go?
[00:37:26] Speaker A: So we all play men's league right now. I'll tell you right now, a lot of us play men's league together.
[00:37:30] Speaker C: Everybody knows where it's like, yeah, there's gonna be the officers gonna be. This is gonna be that. I mean, I'm not trying to throw shade on anyone's hockey dreams because that's not what they. This is about. It's just. It's just.
[00:37:40] Speaker D: It's being realistic.
[00:37:42] Speaker C: Realistic. Thank.
[00:37:43] Speaker D: Being realistic here, yes.
[00:37:44] Speaker C: Realistic. Realistically, is this going to happen? Probably not. And I mean, I can't afford to do that. I can't afford to put my kid in hockey camps here, hockey camps there, and get a specialist skating coach at 10. Like, that's nuts. And I mean, I. We're kind of deviating off topic a little bit, but I, I know that, yeah, it's.
[00:38:01] Speaker D: That's where. That's what drives it. Right. Or if we want to call it passion, maybe that these, these adults, these kids, these parents have, we'll call it passion. Right. Just to make it positively. That's where that's first. That's where the passion comes from. And that's where people want to see their kids do well and have success. And, you know, and yeah, things don't go their way. They get angry because they're afraid their son, daughter, child's good feelings are going to be hurt. So their feelings get hurt. Like, this is all, this is all validated, but the behavior, the negative, like the negative consequences, that's what's worth trying to stop. Right? It's okay to feel upset. It's okay to have an opinion. It's okay to be angry. But at what point does it become too much? Right? And this is where it's become too much. Yeah. We have to do a better job, all of us, parents, coaches, throughout. Better job of just kind of working as a team again and, you know, trying to just. Just treat each other with respect, be kind. Yeah. I'm a, I'm a teacher by, by trade. I heard as Dave has figured out and has shout out to all the kids at FH Clerg. I had a lot of them come up to me today and say, hey, we saw you on that podcast. And I said, okay, well, I, I better behave then. Right? Right.
Oh, I better behave. No, I usually do. I usually do.
I mean, for the, for all of them to see it and all the parents to see this just, it's the thing that I try and teach and I know a lot of my co workers do as well. We try and teach in our classroom. Be kind, be respectful. It's okay to have big feelings. It's okay to be upset. But how we deal with those feelings is a big part of who we are and represents who we are. Yeah, like what work? This is a good start, us being here and your post getting a lot of attention and how can we fix it?
[00:39:50] Speaker C: Where.
[00:39:50] Speaker D: How can we go from here, you know, I'm excited to see.
[00:39:53] Speaker A: That's, that's actually what I wanted to ask Andrew. What. So I know there's a couple questions we'll get into before we, before we let you go. And one of them is what needs to change. I know we talked about what.
We just talked about it pretty, pretty lengthy, but if you had to summarize it, what needs to change from a, from a broad perspective.
[00:40:13] Speaker C: Broad perspective, just in general. Hockey. You know what?
Culture. I think you know what I mean. Everyone talks about culture and tradition and this and that and hockey is a tough sport. Hockey's a tough sport. But you know what? You're right. It is a tough sport. But it doesn't have to be tough mentally. You don't have to, you don't have to put.
You don't put kids on blast for something like that. You know what I mean? You don't have to, you don't have to get into someone's face like that to change culture. You can, you can lay a big hit. Great. That's awesome. I love that. Big hits in a hockey. Awesome. Let's get away from it once you're done. What's the, what's the point. What's the point of throwing a body check in hockey? You guys know, Right? Right. What's the definition of a body check?
[00:40:51] Speaker D: The body from the puck.
[00:40:54] Speaker C: It's not to go out there and kill someone.
[00:40:55] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:40:56] Speaker A: Set the tone, if you will. It's called setting the tone.
[00:40:58] Speaker D: Set the tone. That's right.
[00:41:00] Speaker C: It's fine. And you know what? You know, I know it as well as every other rep out there knows it. If you're throwing a big body check and it's a body checking league, great. You know what this game's going to be like and it is. That's it. That is what it is. But I mean, it's the, the culture, I think is a big thing is just. And, and the education around the mental health part I think is, is really big too, that I think a lot of people are. Because it's, it's taking away from the game. Like, I mean, I, I had a, I had a kid, I was refin some junior greyhounds kid called me a bleeping roast. Misconduct. Five games. See you later. Easy. That's the easiest color thing I've ever made. Hockey. You looked at me, right? And said it right, right on me. What am I gonna do?
[00:41:38] Speaker D: Bye.
[00:41:39] Speaker C: Easy. It's easy, man. The, the framework's there to call the penalties. It's just Just. And I mean, I think sometimes the younger guys, I think they think about it a little too much and they just pull the trigger. What's. What's gonna happen? This kid's gonna sit out because he verbally. You know what I mean? He said something loud to you. Like, what do you. What are you teaching your kid at that point? What are you teaching. A coach should be looking at that and going, get off the ice. They shouldn't be like, oh, you know what, man? That's. Whatever. No, get off the ice. It's. I don't know, man. It's. It's. There's so much that I. I can say that I'm just. I'm. It's. The topic is so broad.
[00:42:12] Speaker D: It is 100%.
[00:42:14] Speaker A: And.
Yeah.
[00:42:17] Speaker D: What is the reason to. So a player calls you that, you write him up. Let's say he's the top scorer on that team. That team goes, oh, and five, the next five games. So that coach has a decision to make. Do they want to blame you on the team's performance and whatnot?
[00:42:35] Speaker C: I don't even.
[00:42:36] Speaker D: Like, who cares about the performance afterwards?
[00:42:38] Speaker C: But.
[00:42:38] Speaker D: Or do they want to, you know, take matters into their own hands and say, oh, like, take ownership on us as a team? Look what happened. There was something negative that happened. Let's learn from that. Not do that again. Then we won't lose our best player for five games.
[00:42:53] Speaker C: Right.
[00:42:54] Speaker A: But we see a lot of cinema for more truths. I'm not gonna lie to you. If someone did that, you're sitting on the bench for double that. And that's what you're gonna do. I'm gonna dress you and sit you. You're not sitting in the crowd. I'm gonna Dr. That's what Dave Natoli would have did to you. That's how I was taught as a coach.
[00:43:08] Speaker D: We see a lot of coaches. We see a lot of coaches nowadays that would fight. They'd probably protest that decision. That Andrew's decision to write the. To suspend the kid for five games probably, like, say something crazy. Right?
So I think whether or not the ref makes the call, we gotta honor that call. And we think, okay, what can we do better next time? But the ref was wrong and this and that. I didn't actually do it.
[00:43:30] Speaker B: Well, that's life before you talk.
[00:43:33] Speaker D: It's try and do better next time either way.
[00:43:37] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:43:37] Speaker D: Try and reinforce that.
[00:43:38] Speaker C: Yeah. A coach is. A coach is out there to teach kids how to play hockey, how to do better, how to run a system, how to. How to Move the puck, how to do this. And if. If you lose sight of that and you. You start yelling at the refs, and. I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm a coach.
I may have. May or not have lost my crew a couple times on the bench. That's a lot.
You know what? It's a lot. Hockey is a very passionate game. You have to know your boundaries, and you have to know your own yourself and how you can control yourself. Self control is a very big thing that I think a lot of people don't. Don't understand either, is that you. There are consequences to your actions, and if you choose to learn from them, that's what we want. If you choose not to learn from them, you're gonna get penalized. That's just how it goes. Yep.
It's. It's ingrained in the. In the hockey ref rulebook. It says. And a lot of stuff is discretion of the referee so rightfully.
[00:44:29] Speaker A: So rightfully so.
[00:44:30] Speaker C: That's why they see. And not from. Not from a parent up in the stands yelling that, you know what? This guy did this. Or I can see this. Well, well, okay. There's a big difference between sitting up in the. Sitting up in the stance and ice level, or a coach standing on the bench looking over everything, and a ref standing ice level, where. You know what I mean? I'm not. I'm not the biggest guy. I go up there and there's kids towering over me, and they're 15, 16 years old, and I'm like, hey, man, I'll call it what I can see. And if I can't see it, guess what? I don't call it because I'm making stuff up. Yeah. Yeah. So hopefully you're. Hopefully your partner's there watching and kind of pick up the slack. But, I mean, it's. And I mean, the one thing that I really want to kind of put home really quickly is when you say that we need. Not you. When people are saying that we need more refs on the ice, I think that actually pulls away from what you're kind of looking for, because if you put a third referee on the ice, that's one ref and two linesman. If you have two linesmen on the ice, they can both call penalties behind the play, above the play. You know what I mean? There's more. There's more eyes on it than just. If you're a linesman, you're standing there and you see a trip, and the ref. The head ref looks and goes, I didn't see It. But the guy on the other side sees it. Well, you can't really call it, but if you are with another, if you're with your partner, just linings. And he looks back and says, oh, that's a. That's a hack to the knees behind the net that I wouldn't have seen because I was going up ice. It makes way more sense.
Yeah.
Yeah. And it's. And people don't get it. So it's.
I could talk like, I could talk for hours on this, man. And you know what? Maybe I'll come back and talk to you again. I don't know.
[00:46:03] Speaker A: We'll have to do a part two. Part two. I want to. I do want to. Because I want to do. I want to see how this investigation goes on. Reactionable would overcome. I think it be certainly good to keep in touch with that. But I have one thing that I want to ask. I thought was a big question to ask is how would you attract people, Andrew, if you had to talk to come be a referee, to come coach after this has been. This isn't this again. I'm gonna tell people this isn't just in Sault Ste. Marie. This is not just in Ontario. This situation is outside of Ontario. I got cousins and family in Vancouver that heard about this.
[00:46:36] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:46:37] Speaker A: You know where we are in the Sioux. We're in the heart of the Great Lakes. Vancouver is on the other side. Okay. It's almost closer to come to the. To go to Europe than it is to come to Sault Ste. Marie. Jokes aside, Rhino, so what would you tell people that are trying to get into refereeing? That's the first part. And second part is overall get into youth hockey to coach or anything. After hearing and seeing and viewing this.
[00:47:01] Speaker C: Incident, you know what, man? It's so rewarding once you get in and once you actually, you know what I mean, you meet the kids on your team or you meet the other refs or you're meeting another ref for the first time in the room right before you go out and you're like, hey, man, I'm Greg. Hey, I'm Andrew. Hey, nice to meet you. Let's go do this. Right? It's so rewarding to go out there and actually know that you're making a difference. Right. Coaches make it. Players lives all the time. Refs, same thing. And you know what? It's even like I go. I go with the younger ref. And I'm always talking like, hey, man, like, how you feeling tonight? You're feeling good? You want me to. You want Me to take the lead. You want me to do this? You want to try something? It's. Making a difference in a kid's life is the most rewarding thing. And I think that hockey actually encompasses all of that, because you know what? But they learn from seeing. They learn from doing. They learn from seeing good, positive role models. Parents, coaches, grandparents, aunts, uncles, older players. My U11 kids love coming to watch. My son especially. He loves coming to watch his sister play. Don't tell him I told you that.
It's on.
[00:48:04] Speaker A: It's on the podcast.
[00:48:07] Speaker C: But he loves how it should be. What's that?
[00:48:11] Speaker D: That's how it should be. 100.
[00:48:12] Speaker C: And you know what? It's.
The. The younger kids should be looking up the older kids. And if the older kids are setting a bad example with the. The actions that they're doing on ice or. Or the coach that they, you know, they know this coach and whatever. Like, it's. It's. I mean, so the guy I'm working with this year, Mike Daniel, you know Gags, right? You know him.
[00:48:30] Speaker A: His dad coached me. Donnie Ghani. Rest in peace, Donnie. Want to hide him for years?
[00:48:35] Speaker C: 100. And you know what? I. I just met Mikey this year, and I've had so much fun with this man. He's not. He. He's. He is next level. He. If you want to see a coach who loves coaching, that's the guy right there.
[00:48:46] Speaker A: He's not as serious as his dad, I hear, is he? Is he? Okay.
[00:48:51] Speaker C: Okay. And he loves the Leafs. Okay? So what does that tell you?
[00:48:55] Speaker A: I'm a Leaf fan. Sorry.
[00:48:56] Speaker C: I get it.
[00:48:57] Speaker A: It's a bad idea.
[00:48:58] Speaker C: So, Mike. So you know what? Shout out, Mike. Annual. I know you're gonna watch this man. And you know what? It's. He's. He's actually one of the little ones for me, and he's not very much than I am. And you know what? I met him this year, and I. I absolutely love a guy. So you know what? It. It's. It's guys like that that keep the. Keep the system alive, and it's guys like that ref that, ref that coach that. That's what keeps the system alive. But it's got to be the right coaching. I think. I think I heard Jordan say that on the last one you guys put out there. It's got to be the right coaching. It can't be a guy that's going to be out there and screaming, screaming and yelling. And you know what? Making your. Making your team look kind of dumb. It's it's got to be the positive role model that you expect as a hockey coach or as a ref. Right? So it's, it's, that's what it is, that's what it's all about. And I mean to get into the sport, you would not, you would never look back. It's. Yeah.
[00:49:45] Speaker A: So to remind viewers and listeners, this is an incident that took place over a week back here in Sioux State where you could check out the NHA statement and then sude had multiple articles, one notably today, and that's February 10th, the date of this recording. Andrew Palaya, the official who was the unfortunate victim, I'm going to use that term when it comes to a throat slash gesture as mentioned in that N O J H L statement. So, Angel, I want to say thank you for taking the time to come by, but I'm also want to give you the floor for the last minute here just to clear up on anything that maybe you wanted to touch further on or anything else you wanted to, to, to educate your listeners on anything else you wanted to share with us that we didn't get the chance to ask you today, putting you on the spot. I do that.
[00:50:26] Speaker C: You know what the biggest thing I can say and you know what? It's not, it's not all.
So going back and kind of thinking about this, it's not all parents, it's probably 10%. So if you're a hockey parent out there and it's. You think that it's you, you know what? Maybe it is maybe look in the mirror and say, you know what? I did something wrong. I yelled at my kid when we were driving home from the rink and I shouldn't have done that.
You know what? It's, it's be positive. Your coaches are there for a reason to coach. You're there to make sure you're safe. The parents are there to chew their phones on, not to call from the stands, not to, not to yell at their kids, not saying, well, that was the ref's fault, that was the coach's fault, that was his fault. No, because at the end of the day, and I tell my kids all this all the time, what can you control in your life? And the answer is one person, it's you. You can't control how the rest do. You can't control what your coach says. You can't control what other parents say you can control. You parents can control themselves, they can control what they say, they can control what they do.
You know what? I'm not a model parent. I try to do my best. And that's all that we can ask for. Right.
[00:51:30] Speaker A: That's.
[00:51:31] Speaker D: Oh.
[00:51:31] Speaker A: Perfection. Perfection, truth.
[00:51:33] Speaker D: And if you make them.
[00:51:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:51:35] Speaker D: If you make a mistake, you're allowed to make a mistake. Just, you know, come out and handle that mistake.
[00:51:41] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:51:41] Speaker C: With care and with kindness.
[00:51:42] Speaker D: Right?
[00:51:43] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:51:45] Speaker C: Learning. If you make a mistake, you should be learning something from it. You did something wrong, you did whatever a mistake is think is a learning opportunity. And if you look at any other way.
[00:51:56] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:51:56] Speaker A: And if people are talking to you about those mistakes and opportunities, know that it comes from a side of care. Most of the time if they're telling you about it and addressing with you, if they care to tell you that means they care about you. Remember that that's one thing to always go to. Yeah.
[00:52:09] Speaker C: Yeah. And you know what? I, that that's what I, I feel the love from all this stuff. I, I haven't had a really. I've had a couple posts where I'm like. Or like a couple of messages like delete because I don't really need to listen to that. But, but everything I've had has been so positive and so whatever. It's, it's, it's nice to see that when a hockey, when something happens, people come together like that and they have your back and it's. That's 100% what you want, right.
[00:52:34] Speaker A: It's people spec coaches spec referees. Be role models to your kids, adults and I hope as the quote unquote, this must stop immediately. I'll take that right from the no jhl the NOHA sorry statement And Andrew, I'll say again, played and coached.
[00:52:55] Speaker C: Actually sorry man.
[00:52:58] Speaker A: Coach Played in coach. Sorry. I'll leave it there. Just a little draw. Played and coached. But no, that aside guys, a this thank you very much Andrew, in all seriousness for taking the time to come on definitely have you on again near future to kind of hopefully there's some resolution and some more broadcasting in terms of publicity about who and what and names and information plans and then we would love to get your reaction from being one of the, as I mentioned, victims for the, the incidences that occurred here to get your feedback. So we'll definitely connect on that. But again I want to say thank you for opening up and being the first to open up on here about it. Essentially I'm going to take that flex for the first open up on here. We appreciate that. But again, in all seriousness, for the 10th time, thank you for taking the time with us.
[00:53:44] Speaker C: Absolutely man. Anytime you let me know. I'll be back.
[00:53:48] Speaker A: Awesome.
